Have lovely silver converse but I find them really uncomfortable on my feet . I have fairly wide feet - though not madly so and they pinch my little toes. Also I still haven't managed to break in the heels and they give me blisters if I eg wear them around town all day, even with proper running type socks. I couldn't think of wearing them barefoot.

Assuming they are a lost cause, are there any other converse type trainers that are more forgiving. I really like the look, the support and the flatness of them but can't stand the pain!

You didn't say if you wanted high tops or low.

Anyway I find these nice and wide comfy and and quite conversesque.

schroeder · 03/03/2011 18:22

Oh yes and when I did wear converse I always had to size up.

Carrotsandcelery · 03/03/2011 18:24

schroeder they are lovely - thanks for the tip.
Vans trainers are not the look you are after but they are a wider fit and very supportive of the foot.

I have some suede Keen Coronados and LOVE them. Want to get another pair but they are out of stock everywhere - anybody know where I could get some?

FreeButtonBee · 03/03/2011 20:19

Hmm i could try a size up but loath the buy another pair and have the same thing happen...

I have these and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.

A little more than the Coronados but they have never ever rubbed and I have worn them for the last 3 s/s/a seasons, through my pregnancy, trawling the streets with a sleep refusing baby etc etc. And I get to feel all smug about the 'greenness' of them Wink Smile

Oh they are very nice; which ones Fumblina? Also what is the sizing like? It says they come up slightly small - is that right?

I have 'Take on Ribbon' in charcoal. Its a kind of grey colour and came with purple ribbon laces and cream 'normal' laces

They are right about the sizing, would recommend going up half a size

Have you tried Superdry shoes? I have wide feet & can't do converse but my superdry shoes are dead comfy. (apols if they've already been linked to but am on phone and can't open links)

thisisyesterday · 05/03/2011 20:33

yeah Keen shoes are lovely!

cookielove · 05/03/2011 20:35

Some one mention vans, i second this they don't look similar but they are soooooo comfy, i use to wear baby sham but there sizings are odd now, and i can't find a good fit anymore

MarineIguana · 05/03/2011 20:37

I love keens, they have solved my fat foot problem (converse are so narrow and pointy, they look like canoes on me, besides not fitting). Besides fitting, keens look great and come in loads of colours and styles.

Another brand that might fit you is Rocket dog.

Keen are the best!!!

Huge fan of their Coronados too, have had 4 pairs Blush. Really good if you're wider of foot.

Chocchipwine if you google them I think there are a fair few sites that sell them? Also Keen are opening a UK site shortly (if not now?).

I'm size 4 and the last pair I bought are actually kids shoes - no laces with elastic stretchy panels at the side, I heart them so much Grin
