Hello ladies!

After having your DC did your body (eventually) go back to what it was like pre-babies? I guess what I'm asking is can hips (bone structure) go back to what they were?

Mine seems to have gone back to normal now (10 months) but I had an c-section

IAmTheCookieMonster · 03/03/2011 16:42

(I don't know if that affects it or not - I did get to second stage of labour)

soppypreggyloon · 03/03/2011 16:45

I'm definitely a different shape but after 18 months and not doing any real exercise I was happy with my new shape.
Hips were wider, waist a bit wider (but was quite small), boobs knackered but I'd rather have teeny slightly saggy ones than the enormous sore bf ones I had!

soppypreggyloon · 03/03/2011 16:46

I'm another cs btw. Never pushed at all bit I think itsthe 9months before that that does the damage! :)

superv1xen · 03/03/2011 18:12

yeah my hips etc went back to normal after (both times) am definitely slimmer now than before my first, but on the downside have a stretchmarked tummy and a c section scar which will NEVER go away :(

oh and my boobs used to be really high and full and now they are a bit saggier. but not much. and that could be age as well (i'm 31 now and was only 25 when i got pregnant with DC1)

moogalicious · 03/03/2011 18:17

Kind of. I can fit into my pre-dc clothes, but I'm a bit more saggier. Boobs still the same size, just droopier. Have had 3 dc's, none cs.

Nagoo · 03/03/2011 18:32

I got thinner than i had been since i was 16 after i had ds.

dd is 14 weeks an i've got about 1/2 stone to go but look about the same I think. better boobs since i'm bfing. they'll go back when i stop and I will miss them.

notyummy · 03/03/2011 18:38

Only had one. Body the same (possibly better tbh) than before with the exception of slightly smaller boobs. I did a lot exercise whilst pregnant and still do now, and I am fairly sure that was key - I am nearly 40 and she was a big baby.

DonaAna · 03/03/2011 18:47

After 2 babies, at 38, back to pre-preg shape and measurements. No exercise, just lucky genes.

MarylandCookie · 03/03/2011 18:48

No. My body changed quite a lot. Even when I lost all my baby weight,my hips were slightly wider and breasts larger and softer. My tum never really recovered.

sugarsnappea · 03/03/2011 18:54

I'm skinnier than before, breastfeeding and racing around after a toddler can do that to you!

BelieveInLife · 03/03/2011 19:04

I too was slimmer after DC1,, think I may have liked my body more than I did before I got pg actually. Was all a bit 'softer' but in a good way.

EgonSpengler · 03/03/2011 19:10

Oo! Thank you for taking the time to reply - interesting answers ladies! Good to know we're all fabulously unique

Basically after 6 months I'm just under 10 stone. At the end of my pregnancy I was 11 and a half stone (at the beginning I was under 9 stone).

I still can't fit back in to my pre-preggo clothes so have to lose a bit more before I try squeezing myself back in (I wasn't able to BF so I think my extra bit of 'love', as it were, is probably down to that).

Even though I have a little bit to lose, my hips do look and feel different to what they were and I'm thinking my shape has changed (and even though I didn't BF, my boobs are slightly bigger and, how shall we say...more floppy...ahem...).

Give it another six months - you sound like you're well on your way to getting your shape back.
I was lucky too and got my pre-baby body back pretty quickly and also seemed to have a slimmer silhouette (hips etc) than before although that could be down to the wine I wasn't out drinking every weekend post ds! However I did notice my boobs weren't as full up top as previously and I had to resort to clever underwear for a while. Guess it's all a compromise!

BlackSwan · 03/03/2011 19:20

Back to normal. Completely grateful as all my pre preg wardrobe was quite fitted and I have always been one size, so there was no room for movement so to speak. When I got home from hospital I couldn't even get my old pj's past my thighs... I was upset to say the least. Now everything fits me as before. It took about 6-9 months to really get back in shape.

EgonSpengler · 04/03/2011 09:43

Thanks Particles! That gives me some hope! Am off to do a Pushy Mothers class this morning, so hopefully that's another step towards my old jeans. Yes, you're right - I think it's all definitely a compromise!

That's good to know Black Swan - again gives me hope! And bloody well done you!
