do you get bored of them? Would you get bored of wearing it if you wore it every day?

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 03/03/2011 15:28

Nope.

TrillianAstra · 03/03/2011 15:28

Why would red be more boring than any other colour?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2011 15:31

no. Mine is still wonderful after 2 years.

Doobydoo · 03/03/2011 15:31

L love my red coat.I also have a black one with silvey bits in.I think I would get bored with a beige coatGrin...or Mackintosh!

FrancesFarmer · 03/03/2011 15:38

No. I keep mine for special occasions but don't get bored of it.

DonaAna · 03/03/2011 15:40

No. Red is my go-to color and comfort zone. I look good in red and pink and coral and stand out in a good way. I've worn a bright fuchsia coat almost every day this winter and am not bored. But I couldn't stand navy or beige and camel does nothing for me either...

ruddynorah · 03/03/2011 15:41

No I love mine.

migola · 03/03/2011 15:44

TrillianAstra you have a very good point!

DonaAna I recognise your name from the Danefae thread Grin, and that's exactly what I'm contemplating getting. I love red and I think Hmm it suits me and come to think of it I used to have a red coat, but wondering if I should go for boring safer brown

OP posts:
bristolcities · 03/03/2011 15:47

Don't Look Now!?

MirandaWest · 03/03/2011 15:48

I have a red coat. Has been worn every cold day for about three or possibly 4 years now.

migola · 03/03/2011 15:49

bristolcities I was wondering what the hell you were on about so googled - maaaan you've creeped me out

Migola, a friend of mine has the brown Danefae. To be honest, it looks a bit dull. It's a dark chocolatey brown. I wore a black coat for work today in the super-bright sun and felt it was all wrong - really longed for my fuchsia Danefae. Go for the red, it will feel great in the spring sun!

I never buy Boden but I've been eyeing their soft red spring trench. Not totally sold on it but it would really flatter my skin tone.

moragbellingham · 03/03/2011 16:02

I was stuck between 2 coats red and brown and bought both as they were in the sale. The brown gets used in miserable, grim, wet weather and the red is for sunny bright days.
The red is much, much nicerSmile

migola · 03/03/2011 16:05

DonaAna the white buttons scare me a bit, plus THIS www.folkmalmo.se/en/art/danefae-else-pink-winter.php has just put me off. Doesn't look very flattering on her and she's a model!

OP posts:
GeneralissimoVonBobbington · 03/03/2011 16:09

No, and people are always telling me what a lovely colour it is. Plus, before Christmas, I wear it with a leaf green scarf and hum "the Holly and the ivy" to myself Grin

FreeButtonBee · 03/03/2011 16:13

No! I Love my red coat. It's lighter than my 'proper' winter coat so I tend to use it for evenings and cooler autumn/spring days. Looks fab with Converse and blue jeans and a breton top.

DonaAna · 03/03/2011 16:21

Migola, I don't think the pic you linked to is a good representation of what the coat really looks like, the model looks very dumpy and about 20 weeks pregnant :D - on me, the A-line looks very slimming and flattering, more like this (but please do overlook the nasty check pattern).

The big buttons scared me, too. I never bother to do them up, as there is no need. But the coat is brilliant otherwise, so I can live with them.

However, if you are very short, don't buy the Danefae. It's designed for Nordic women, so it tends to look better on average height/tall women (I thinks Danish women are the tallest on earth). It has extra long sleeves, too. I love them (no need to wear gloves in the rain), but again, not a good thing if you are short.

migola · 03/03/2011 16:26

freebuttonbee I am liking your look

bugger though as I am only 5ft3(and a half Grin, size 8-10

back to the drawing board. AAAGH. I just don't want a north face, or a berghaus - I want something a bit nicer and thought I'd found it with the Danefae Sad

BlooCowWonders · 03/03/2011 16:34

I (deliberately) bought a cheap red coat for happy days, but keep to my warmer brown one more often. My red one does lift my spirits and I'm never bored of it!

(the only prob is that all my dc have a red coat too - not the same style - and we look like the von Trapps if I'm not careful)

DonaAna · 03/03/2011 16:36

Migola, my friend is exactly your height and the sleeves are a bit too long for her. She is very curvy, too, so that might influence the proportions. I'm 5ft7, size 8-10 and the coat in size M is perfectly cut for me.

migola · 03/03/2011 16:43

I suppose I could get the sleeves adjusted [clutching at straws]. I have quite a short waist, do you think it's a no-no? Not that curvy, I have boobs and a bum but I am no Jessica Rabbit Grin

OP posts:
DonaAna · 03/03/2011 16:56

Migola, was going to suggest shortening the sleeves to my friend. I sometimes have clothes altered, it's quite worthwhile. I have a short torso - I can sometimes wear petite clothes - and the Danefae looks very good on me. My friend is way curvier than you, it think she is a 14-16, so that could influence the proportions, too.

Checked my coat - it's possible to shave off about 3cm from the sleeves.

migola · 03/03/2011 17:00

thanks DonaAna, think I might chance it and go for it - will let you know how I get on!

OP posts:
DonaAna · 03/03/2011 17:04

Good luck! Hope it works out for you!

domesticslattern · 03/03/2011 18:59

I love my red coat...
Only problem is that DH once followed entirely the wrong woman in the crowds all the way through Victoria Station, as he simply followed a red coat and didn't notice the woman inside was about a foot shorter than me with completely different hair. So it's great to stand out- but you won't be the entire person in the western world with a coat that colour!
