Over make-up SPF, does it exist?

I've imagined a useful product, but I am not sure if it exists.

Recently I've come across products like Urban Decay De-slick and Paul & Joe gel - OK they have slightly different purposes but basically they are both lightweight and can be applied over makeup during the day.

Has anyone come across a similar product that also contains SPF? My moisturiser/primer/makeup do contain SPF but it never feels that applying it in the morning is enough, even when I have used a high factor once a day facial suncreen.

Thanks!

ooh I am interested in this

I am never sure whether to put sunscreen on first or moisturiser either

There are mineral powder SPF's available, that you can dust on over your make up. I use one by Peter Thomas Roth, which is spf 30.

Thanks Celery, will google that Smile.

Still interested in anything else? And so is Cappster Grin

Oh, I'm very interested too! I have skin cancer and as such have to cover up all the time now Sad
I need a good spf for my face. Currently use Benefit "You Rebel" but its not high enough really.

Suggest you read this regarding SPF and makeup. An Aussie website and very knowledgable it seems.

Thanks beijingaling, that's really interesting! So that would mean that the higher factor spfs don't work unless they go on first? So there's no point in me putting e.g. 20 spf tinted moisturiser over after I've already put on factor 8 day cream?

I think though that Celery's mineral powder WOULD work over makeup as it is a physical barrier containing zinc oxide. So perhaps the way to go is to revert back to something like this and then the powder over the top? I'd like to just slap on a high factor tinted moisturiser and that's all but it wouldn't be moisturising enough for me I don't think.

I also use MAC spf 50 primer, every day, under my make up. The mineral powder, I use to top up in the summer.

BadPoet · 02/03/2011 13:46

DO you just use the primer Celery, or a moisturiser as well?

What about the Bobby brown tinted moisturizer balm? I think the mineral powder would work over make up, as you say, because it is a physical barrier.

Yes I read the article as no point in putting the SPF make up over the day cream.

I would guess that primer is fine under moisturizer as long as you wait at least 5 mins before putting on moisturizer.

BadPoet · 02/03/2011 14:49

Is that a very moisturising one? Thanks, I might try and get a sample. Determined to get this right this year!

I think it is. On a recent thread re tinted moisturizer someone mentioned it. I've only tried the normal Bobby brown tinted moisturizer not the balm.

I strongly suggest Cosmetics A La Cart if you can get to London. They'll custom blend a foundation to your colour and weight preference- mine is very light- and I think they do one with SPF. Once you buy it you can order online.

Bugger sorry www.cosmeticsalacarte.com

I don't use a moisturiser as well as the primer, but I have oily skin ( I do use a night moisturiser though ).

Evizza · 03/03/2011 09:34

Avon Anew Powder is spf 15 - I use that after all my other 'layers' and foundation just for that little bit extra Smile
