Bought a dress. It's gorgeous. Kind of 'knittingy' style fabric but I assume acrylic or similar.

The top half is fabulous but is quite tight on my hips.

Is a M/L which is the largest size it comes in. I'm about a 12/14 usually.

I really love it. Don't want to send it back as it's only a bit too small.

Besides losing weight (which I am steadily doing) is there any way I can stretch it?

Even just a bit?

Anyone??

I would wear a satin slip under it so the knit doesn't cling.

Oooooo! Clever!

It's quite short though, was going to wear it over leggings.

Satin leggings? Is that a real thing??

In which case I'd wear leggings and a pair of 'french knickers' over the knickers.

By that I mean the boxer short style , not frill up the bum style.

If you lov it then keep it, sad thing (but handy for you) about these kind of dresses is they stretch and bag in the wash

french knickers over the leggings that should have read...tsk

I have stretched the waistband on a skirt and a pair of trousers when they were still damp after washing. I literally held the band at each end and pulled! I have also stretched a jersey dress in a similar fashion, but I'd advise caution as I although it became slightly bigger I also managed to stretch it out of shape a bit.

Look at the label to check the fabric. I don't think acrylic stretches that well. Spanx?
