Help me complete my wardrobe

Recently I've been trying to create a wardrobe of quality basics that I can add to seasonally. Have some lovely plain long sleeve tees, nice jeans, nice wide leg trousers, cardis, Topshop winter leggings, etc. However there are a few gaps that I've identified, and I need help to find exactly the right items. Going shopping on Saturday (big, well-kitted-out mall) and I want...

  1. a cream shirt (NOT white), maybe a bit embellished, that I can wear belted or open, with skinny jeans

  2. a just above knee length A line darkish denim skirt, preferably button through

  3. a long, but not too long, navy cardi that ISN'T waterfall

  4. and maybe a mac, if I have enough money. beige or navy I think

Generally I like Autograph, Linea weekend, bit of Oasis, Topshop, H&M. Hate Next with a passion these days. Have Hobbs giftcard and Whitestuff vouchers to help me on my way.

Please recommend me some lovely, but budget friendly, things Grin

Thank you s+b ladies!!

Zara has some lovely cream shirts in at the moment. Just had a quick look online for you but tbh their website does them no justice at all! Also had navy and beige macs.

At the risk of sounding like a boring old frump, I would look at Marks and Spencers for a mac and a denim skirt

I bought a really nice navy cardy in Oasis recently. It's boyfriend style but not too baggy, especially if you size down, and also has a detachable waist tie if you want a more fitted look.

EllieorOllie · 28/02/2011 17:32

Oooh yes tulpe, Zara sounds like a good plan. I shall definitely plan that one into my route!

Sahminspain, I've had no luck with M&S for denim skirts recently, they sold out of the Indigo one I liked in about 10 seconds flat, and I'm quite a small size 6 on the bottom half, so M&S skirts generally tend to fall down Blush

Thanks Sariska, that cardy is lush!

I second M&S for denim skirt. I just got one in there for £22. It is above the knee and fits very well. I am wearing it with navy tights at the moment but could be worn in the summer with sandals

ellangirl · 28/02/2011 17:36

denim skirts here from Boden or here from monsoon.
Cardigan here from Uniqlo
Any good?

EllieorOllie · 28/02/2011 17:43

Hmm, like the Boden but a bit ££ for me at the mo, though if there's still a 15% code floating around I might get away with it. Monsoon not quite the style I was thinking of.

Where are you lot finding these M&S denim skirts?! I live near one of the biggest in the country (tries not to out self...), and there's not a decent denim skirt to be found in there for love nor money Envy

I think I have concluded that the skirt is going to be the issue. Having been looking for the perfect one for about 3 years! Had one from Mango that looked amazing but was so pencil-ly that I couldn't walk in it...

This

I got it in the petite fir as am only 5ft but it is very good on me. Great basic for the price. Quality as good as Boden I would say

Meggles76 · 28/02/2011 18:27

fit

Gillybobs · 28/02/2011 18:34

skirt&pageSize=20 how about this?

Clure · 28/02/2011 18:48

any denim skirts here?

EllieorOllie · 28/02/2011 18:48

i also really like that one Gillybobs. ooooh, now i have choice! scary...

i really want button-through Meggles. also think that if you styled that one wrong it could look a little bit meh. and i need something that will look effortlessly stylish even at 5 am! sure you style it beautifully though Grin
