dont know how to out up piccies so they are on my profile.
i'd like to wear a greeny, tendrily flower garland thing on my head and some gold slingbacks i already own.

pros:
its beautiful and classic.
it was v cheap.
its vintage, therefore unique. and i love vintage things.
it is simple. i dont want to look too 'bridey'. i certainly dont want to be centre of attention. ideally id like to be able to wear my dress again.

cons:
its a bit boring and not very special.
its old and a bit tatty looking.
do i want something with a bit more va va voom?

what do you all think?? should i keep searching?

I think it's lovely and you can make it special with accessories...pale pink? that would be my only concern...depends on your complexion.

nancydrewfoundaclue · 27/02/2011 20:12

I think the shape is lovely. Really lovely.

What is the fabric like? If it is "tatty" would you consider having a new version of it made?

Tillyscoutsmum · 27/02/2011 20:15

I agree. The shape is beautiful - so classy but if it is a bit tatty (hard to tell from the pics), then would you feel "special" enough in it ? What sort of wedding are you having ? Could you perhaps afford to have something very similar made.

noddyholder · 27/02/2011 20:16

Love it too.

nowwearefour · 27/02/2011 20:21

it is gorgeous

MaryBS · 27/02/2011 20:22

I think it looks stunning!

youngblowfish · 27/02/2011 20:23

I love it, it really is gorgeous. I like clothes with a bit of history. IMO, when it comes to wedding dresses the more understated the better.

seeker · 27/02/2011 20:23

It's gorgeous.

But what do you mean my tatty-looking? Is it stuff like threads hanging down that could be sorted by a dressmaker?

ellangirl · 27/02/2011 20:27

Hi trinity. I think the dress looks lovely. I would just say though, enjoy your wedding, and being the centre of attention, because you will be whether you like it or not! I didn't want lots of photos because I am very self conscious, but now I really regret that, as it's the one day in my life that I have felt really beautiful.

ValiumSingleton · 28/02/2011 09:10

I really like it.

The wedding dress I'm sick of seeing is that bandeau style dress which every bride for the last ten years has worn.

Your dress looks beautiful on the dummy, I imagine it would be really flattering, and it is that bit different as well. If you love it, wear it.

ValiumSingleton · 28/02/2011 09:11

ps, however, if it's a bit tatty, maybe you could get a tailor to make you something in the same style, using some of the material perhaps, to make a new dress in that style but with a NOD to vintage.

BulletWithAName · 28/02/2011 09:46

Doesn't look like a wedding dress to me, sorry.

jetgirl · 28/02/2011 09:54

It's beautiful - very classy, I don't think it looks boring at all. Where is it tatty-looking? Is it the kind of thing that can be covered with accessories? Or as seeker says, sorted by a dressmaker?

mummydarlingsausage · 28/02/2011 10:02

Gorgeous! :) not boring. less is more Grin

noddyholder · 28/02/2011 10:38

I think it would look lovely with a really beautiful vintage bracelet but no other accessories it is too pretty to be over dressed
