Right, I need something special to wear next weekend, am currently 1.5stone overweight,(oh at the very least!!!) So about a 16 with big boobs, short neck, and mummy tummy from ds. I really want something that will miraculously make me look thinner, taller and prettier. Ok then, just flatter me!

So let me tell you my requirements:

Below knee length as above knee looks bad on me
v neck or low neck but v is generally better
wraps generally look better but am a bit bored of them
something to hide the mummy flab tummy but without making me look pregnant
good sucky in underwear is also a possibility
Oh and short sleeves are a really really poor idea due to bingo wings and general flabsterness.

Thank you! (Under £200 please too!!!)

BelligerentGhoul · 26/02/2011 22:36

You need to go and try on some of the Vivienne Westwood Anglomania jersey dresses - you will think that you couldn't possibly wear them and that they will be clingy and unflattering - and then you will see that you were wrong!

vanillamum · 26/02/2011 22:37

I am going to try so what event is it and where and when will it be held?

TheSleepFairy · 26/02/2011 22:40

< Marks very out of touch mummy place.>

BelligerentGhoul · 26/02/2011 22:43

Not seen this irl but seems bargainous!

BelligerentGhoul · 26/02/2011 22:45

Love the look of the neck on this

bonkers20 · 26/02/2011 22:49

I think Gok would say that you need one of those miracle underwear suits - you know like one of those old fahioned bathing suits right down to your thighs. Then you'll have a smooth, lush shape.

Then get a dress which hugs your now smooth, fabulous curves. Draw attention to your fabulous cleavage with a plunging neckline or large necklace and take attention away from bum area with a very large belt.

Silver shoes!

What are your legs like? Often larger ladies have the most wonderful legs so show them off. With a longer dress you could go for a saucy split on the thigh.

I think Gok would tell you to get a really good bra!

tethersend · 26/02/2011 23:24

Ok, how about something like this with spanx?

too daytime?

this?

this?

tethersend · 26/02/2011 23:25

And yy to anglomania, as always Grin

nancydrewfoundaclue · 26/02/2011 23:28

Anglomania is fab Grin

tethersend · 26/02/2011 23:59

This would be perfect if you can wear red... and only a 16 left...

nancydrewfoundaclue · 27/02/2011 00:16

That is gorgeous tethers but how on earth did you track it down to Boutique 1???

blindassassin · 27/02/2011 07:33

Ooh that Issa dress is lovely tethers. Is it the same as Kate Middleton's engagement dress in blue? Please buy it OP!

Figgyrolls · 27/02/2011 09:30

OMG, I love that dress tethers and I was trying on a red dress the other day!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think it is appropriate for the christening of my beloved ds? And if you tell me I can wear it with black snakeyskin heels (LK Bennet) then I wouldn't have to purchase any new shoes to go with it!

Oh how I love it!

OP posts:
tethersend · 27/02/2011 09:45

You have to get it- it was meant to be! I'd get it myself, but I can't wear red (Ginger hair). I don't think it's the same as kate's dress, but I could be wrong. It would go with snakeskin heels, definitely.

tethersend · 27/02/2011 09:47

Get it before someone else does!

mrsbumbledosem · 27/02/2011 09:56

Did you get it?! It's amazing

nancydrewfoundaclue · 27/02/2011 17:58

Buy it Buy it Buy it!

I shall be in UAE in a couple of weeks and will now be forced to trawl Boutique 1 branches to see if they in fact have it in my size. Hanging out on S&B is dangerous Grin

tethersend · 28/02/2011 20:53

Did you get it OP?

Figgyrolls · 01/03/2011 18:27

Tethers
Thanks so much for your help!

I decided not to get the beautiful dress because:

  1. I was worried about it getting here in time
  2. I am so clumsy and am doing the cooking Blush
  3. I fully intend to NOT be a 16 for very much longer!

Therefore on a nose around the local shopping delight earlier today I found and purchased the below Blush Blush Grin

this one

and this in black to go with this Blush

Am a bit Hmm about the belt and its price but can take it back if my mum has something similar in her wardrobe from 70's!

I have kickass black stilletto's bought in lkb too from way back which I lurve and rarely get to wear and purchased one of these

All in all I feel very happy about it all, just need the nod from my dear mama who is a bit of a gok herself and equally everything can be returned if it doesn't meet the grade! But that hobbs dress is really really fab and if you ignore the belt (still Blush) then I am bang on what I would have paid (ok nearly!!) for the other dress. However i will be keeping my squizzy eyes out for it when I am a 14!

OP posts:
tethersend · 01/03/2011 20:38

Which Hobbs dress was it? The link goes to all of them Grin

I have that slip (but with legs in) and it's really good.

I love the lk bennett dress too.

Can't pretend I'm not disappointed you didn't get the Issa dress, but I will force someone else to get it suggest it to someone else Wink

tethersend · 01/03/2011 20:39

Thanks for updating BTW Smile

Figgyrolls · 01/03/2011 20:49

Twas the reef dress, but the lkb one made dh go hubba hubba AND I hadn't realised how much weight you have lost Grin!
Have asked if I can have it in another colour now!
