Ultimate Beauty Tips

I thought it would be great to get a list of peoples beauty tips, not products, but ways of getting ourselves gorgeous.

Here's mine:
10 glasses of water a day

curl eyelashes before mascara, then comb through with an eyelash comb, will make any mascara look good

Rub moisturiser in for 5 minutes massaging upwards (about 2 songs worth), then get dressed, your skin will be lovely and glowy and the redness from rubbing it will have disappeared

Before drying off after a bath/shower cover yourself in baby oil. Yes you will have to wander around naked for about an hour, but your skin will be incredibly lovely and soft.

Leaving a small gap between eyeliner on your top and bottom lashes will make your eyes look bigger. The best way to do this is apply your makeup, then run a cotton bud dipped in remover over the corner, and voila!

I'll be back with more later, but please add your own :o

3 times a week, with a small amount of warmed almond oil, massage face, use upward sweep to help with lymph drainage, then clean off with as hot a wrung-out flannel as you can stand. Hold flannel on face until it cools, repeat this 'steaming' for maybe 3-4 times, dry and apply fav moisturiser.

facial exercises every day. I have been doing a variety of them since November and I now have the cheekbones I had at the age of 20 once more :) and my "number 11" crease inbetween my eyebrows has almost disappeared (am 40 btw).

Breathing & gentle head & neck stretches. Sounds daft but works a treat. Before washing in the morning, take some deep breaths through the nose and out through the mouth, really filling up your lungs from the bottom to top with each breath. Next, relax your shoulders, face forward and gently tilt your head so that your ear moves towards your shoulder and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat other side and then forwards, with your chin moving towards your chest. All of this increases blood flow and makes your skin more receptive to the products you may consequently use.

bambiandthumper · 25/02/2011 21:02

Oooh tulpe those exercises sound fab, what are they?

carat · 25/02/2011 22:10

tulpe, please point us in the right direction. Have never done facial exercises.

  1. use skincare from the same range - it does make a difference
  2. use a thick hand cream before bed
  3. Hot oil/ deep conditioning hair treatment once a week
  4. use an eyelash primer before mascara
Dozeyland · 25/02/2011 22:17

Get a face moisturiser/tinted with built in SPF and apply to face and neck.

Dozeyland · 25/02/2011 22:18

When doing a pedicure/manicure. use paraffin wax for 5/10 minutes mid session. your feet feel like heaven after!

Dozeyland · 25/02/2011 22:19

Sometimes let your hair dry naturally, extra glossy the next day.

Dozeyland · 25/02/2011 22:20

OP i defo second the water

BelligerentGhoul · 25/02/2011 22:23

Bio oil on hands and neck/top of chest before bed every night.

carat · 25/02/2011 22:57

I read, may years ago, that the French shower cold water over their breasts to keep them pert and firm - no idea if this is true!

MumInBeds · 25/02/2011 23:00

Just remember to smile, smile lines age so much kinder than frown lines.

CameronCook · 25/02/2011 23:29

Tulpe - I'm the same age - please share your facial excercises - I keep looking in the mirror and thinking I need surgery

Evizza · 25/02/2011 23:44

Same here about the facial exercises...would love to know more as have '11' frown lines I would love to make less noticeable Hmm

barbieisaskinnybitch · 26/02/2011 10:14

I call the "11" lines my "Oi!!" lines as they show when I'm getting harrassed with my ds's...

tulpe help us!!!!

superv1xen · 26/02/2011 10:18

vaseline on your eyelashes before bed (makes them thicker and stronger)

sunblock every day

i second the 10 glasses of water

if you use fake tan on your body, use a hairdryer to dry it once you have applied it!

get your eyebrows threaded every few weeks, a good eyebrow shape makes a big difference

VerityBrulee · 26/02/2011 10:47

Tulpe come back with a link please Smile

tulpe · 26/02/2011 11:43

sorry ladies - DS needs computer for homework but will come back later this afternoon and try and explain!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/02/2011 15:30

Vaseline on feet and socks during the night.

Bio-oil and cotton gloves (available for a couple of quid from any chemist) on during the night.

Instead of expensive body exfoliators but exfoliating gloves for about £3 from Boots and use them with shower gel, much more effective.

Put eyeliner on your upper water line aswell as on top of the eyelid, makes such a difference and makes your lashes look so thick.

cabbageroses · 26/02/2011 16:07

Sunblock with at least spf 25 every day- all year. don't rely on what's in make up or moisturisers as it is so thinly distributed by the time it gets on your face.

very little alcohol.

exercise out doors.

oily fish 3 x a week at least -omega 3s.

DrNortherner · 26/02/2011 16:12

Yes Tulpe I want the facial exercises too please! Frownies are also good for frown lines when i remember to use them....

Here's my tips:
Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream - small amount rubbed into hands and then all over face before bed. Great for calming irritated skin.

Vaseline on Eyelashes and brows at bed time

Dab of concealer on inner corner of eye is an instant brightener

DrNortherner · 26/02/2011 16:13

Yes I second exercising outdoors - gives a wonderful glow!

bambiandthumper · 26/02/2011 17:10

Rinse conditioner out with the coldest water you can tolerate, you will instantly wake up and your hair will be super shiny

sweetheart · 26/02/2011 17:15

There are tons of facial exercise / yoga video's on You Tube.

Havingkittens · 26/02/2011 18:25

One for the darker haired ladies - when you have finished plucking your eyebrows scrunch up your nose and pluck out whatever you see poking out of your nostrils too. I see so many beautiful ladies who look like they've been snorting spiders.

When applying under eye concealer or Touche Eclat type product, put your chin down towards your chest and look in the mirror, this will help you see the shadows that need brightening. You only need to put your concealer/highlighter here.

FunnyLittleFrog · 26/02/2011 18:52

Ouch to plucking nostil hair!

My top tip is to touch your face as little as possible - makes such a difference if you have greasy or spotty skin.
