When you have finshed eating all the cereal, why dont you paint the box with say some glitter paint, fill the box with stones from the garden - it makes a fabulous door stop - you could give as gifts too!

What a jolly good idea!

Can you suggest anything for eggs? I wondered about using a hard-boiled one as a pelvic-floor exerciser, but I suppose I'd have to eat my breakfast AFTER I've used it (in case I get bits of egg shell everywhere).

I'm glad you like my idea, honestly I've had hours of fun making these with the children and our friends and family appear enamoured when they receive these thoughtful gifts for birthday and christmas.

Now then eggs - yes i do have another great way of recycling your unused agg shells - why not get some vibrant colured nail varnish and create a lovely pattern on the shells - then glue some cotton, together with a needle for a lovely modern pair of earings - even if you dont have pierced ears you can hang them around your ears with the cotton. What a fabulous pressie for mother's day - coming up soon. I gave these to my mother last year and i have to say she was absolutely delighted

A rubber band (perhaps one dropped by a careless Postman) smeared with Colgate makes a great alternative to expensive shop bought chewing gum

GORGEOUS2 · 25/02/2011 15:04

What a fabulous tip - can't believe i have never thought of it myself. Unfortunately my postman doesn't come until late afternoon, so will have to carry on with expensive purchasing before he drops one!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!

TerrorFirmer · 25/02/2011 15:34

OK OK i have one.

Why pay good money for jigsaws? Simply empty a packet of frozen oven chips on the table and try to piece the potatoes back together.

MrsNoggin · 25/02/2011 15:52

Grin @ TerrorFirmer.

Sounds like fun.

Next time you need a nice bright rug for DCs room why not go around all the carpet shops asking for samples, and sew them all together.... VOILA - nice new rug.

GORGEOUSX · 25/02/2011 16:02

BTW Love TerraFirmers jigsaw. Grin

Just thought of another one..... You know when you come to end of a bag of pasta, and there are lots of little broken bits in the bag..... how about saving them all up, then when you've got a fair amount, glueing them onto some card, and making a really contemporary piece of artwork.

I have a friend who did something similar..... she got all the old paint pots out and just flicked paint onto canvas, then framed it and put it in her hall. She had a soiree one night and we all had to go round and admire it.....Grin

GORGEOUSX · 25/02/2011 18:03

BTW OP I doubt you're as GORGEOUS as me! Grin

jazzchickens · 25/02/2011 18:50

For a cheap and painless alternative to a tattoo - fall asleep naked on a magazine or newspaper

GORGEOUSX · 25/02/2011 19:23

jazzchickens That's a FAB idea. Do you think it matters if it's The Beano?

Alaro · 25/02/2011 19:26

Oh, The Beano has to be better, as its full colour, no? Lol.

GORGEOUSX · 25/02/2011 19:45

True - but only if your OH is called Dennis Grin

Sympatico · 25/02/2011 19:47
