ideas needed- help!

I am going to a do in a few weeks, we go once a year and it's our only proper night out, therefoe I feel able to justify a new outfit each time (LOL- when I was younger I only ever wore utfits once... now it's the same jeans most days!!).

Anyway, it's a deffo no jeans do, but other than that it's anything up to (and for some stranger souls including) ball gowns. It's an awards ceremony and general pi*s up for the carnival clubs of South Somerset.

OK: I like glam, hate meutrals like brown beige or grey coz they make me feel neutral and I'm not, I'm a drunk, loud so and so when given the chance. I'm tallish, curvy but not overweight... just lost 2 stones so want to show off a bit if poss.

Like red, turquiose.. plae skin, hair can change to suit clothes...

I'm 32...

Will be dancing LOTS (seem to remember doing the cancan last year waving my skirt madly with an eighteen year old hanging off of me... Dh was trying to escape being seduced by 18 yr old's Mum at the time...!!!!)

ideas anyone? I only get one chance to go shopping (in Cardiff), thre's no clothes shop here apart from a strange litle elderly ladies boutique.

Oh yes, Karen Millen I always forget them!

twinsetandpearls · 17/10/2005 14:56

You could buy the dress for £150 from Monsoon or wherever and then sell it on ebay to get some of your money back. Keep your receipt to show how recently it was purchased so only worn once.

Be warned though I have a closet full of dresses that i promised to sell on ebay - but I just can't do it.

twinsetandpearls · 17/10/2005 14:57

You could try TK Maxx, I bought a nice Wrap dress from there a while back. It is worth a look.

FrenchSorciere · 17/10/2005 15:19

isn't there a Zara in Cardiff? try there too

twinsetandpearls · 17/10/2005 15:19

THis is colourful and the Ben De Lisi dresses from Debenhams are beautifully cut.

twinsetandpearls · 17/10/2005 15:19

and it is reduced to £84.

Bozza · 17/10/2005 15:45

I like that twinset. No opportunity to wear it myself mind...

I do tend to sell on Ebay after a while, when I run out of cash.

This dress is a treat for doing so well at Weight Watchers, so that's why I am spending more- last year the outfit came from Asda.

There are loads of nice ones in Debenhams sale. You could order them and collect in-store - try them all on and return what you don't like. If you pay by CC and return quickly it shouldn't cost you anything. Otherwise the local debenhams is bound not to have what you want in the size you want!!

JonesTheScream · 17/10/2005 16:53

Like the shape of both - not sure about the long tie thingy on the teal one (but that's personal preference) but love the colour of it and the shape of it.

Not so sure about the red one - don't really like the shiny bits on the bust area - but nice shape again.

crunchie · 17/10/2005 16:54

Debenhams website is really busy, I have to scroll through to get the Ben de Lisi one (I think it is the one with the one shoulder and flower) I like that TEAL one as you can use it summer or winter, not so keen on the other one. I was looking at sale dresses, I like a bargain

have fallen in love with this

Suspect the bidding will go silly though, anyone any idea where stocks anything similar?
