You'll know The Sanctuary from the products sold in Boots:

www.thesanctuary.co.uk/

Never been there myself though, sorry!

I was at the sanctuary today

It was very nice, am a bit miffed to be home tbh

The treatments were good
The food was nice (we ate in the lounge not restaurant)
The atmosphere was calm

The steam room and jacuzzi were a little small but it wasnt busy at that point so was not a problem

thanks- have been the the Sanctuary a couple of times - ages back- and was disappointed. It may have changed but I found it a bit down market then- but it was 25 yrs back! I was looking for something a bit smaller.

It all got done up a few years ago following a fire that destroyed the koi lounge. I love it and go every year.

The May Fair hotel spa is also very good, but quite small and no pool so depends what you're looking for.

Earthspa in Victoria/Belgravia is nice - but again small with no pool.

Used to like the Elemis day-spa in Lancashire Court, a mews just off Bond Sreet,a lot, but haven't been for a few years, so can't give an up-to-date report on it. No pool though.

I was slightly disappointed with The Sanctuary - very busy on a Saturday and wasn't very impressed with my treatment. I went for a scrub and a massage - when I've had a full body scrub at other spas they've kept me covered under towels and then uncovered each part of the body in turn and scrubbed. At The Sanctuary - I was left completely naked (cold!) apart from horrid disposable knickers whilst they scrubbed my body for a good 15 - 20 minutes. Just didn't feel like much of a treat.

I went to the newly refurbished Connaught the other week, they have a new spa with pool which looks gorgeous! But imagine its ££££

Sanctuary is great, but gets too packed these days.

The one at the Sanderson hotel (forget name) is divine. So is the one at the Mandarin Oriental.

Do you want the whole lying around reading magazines experience, or is it quality of treatments you are after?

Spa NK does great treatments, as does Bliss Spa, but you don't get the whole day spa vibe.
