Cleaning and polishing shoes, boots and bags?

aboput once a year, when I've really got nothing else to do!

whenever i go to wear a pair and think 'i'm sure these used to be x colour...'

God, never, ever, ever. In my 35.5 years of life. Am that you have. Thats a few hours you will never get back.

I wouldn't spend an afternoon doing it, but occasionally give mine a quick clean with a leather wipe after it's been swished over the sofas.

If shoes/boots are dirty, they get a quick swipe with a baby wipe. Bags get the same treatment only if something has been spilled on them.

I quite like polishing shoes, but probably only do it once in a blue moon; don't actually have that many pairs of leather shoes. Reminds me of having to polish school shoes on a Sunday night ...

I only do this once in a blue moon, But just remembering my Dad used to do his shoes and our school shoes every night.

My stuff? Never, I occasionally polish DHs favourite shoes though.
Just for the giggles of seeing him light up like a kid at christmas at his extra shiny shoes.

I do - every few months !
I give them a regular wipe with baby wipes (baby wipes are excellent for some many things !) but every so often I do the whole proper thing with shoe polish, etc.

It makes a huge difference to their appearance. I really hate the look of scruffy, dirty looking shoes.

(and no, I am not ancient - just really into clothes !)

If they are muddy, I use a wipe.

Absolutely never. That's the real reason baby wipes were invented.

Typically when I put away winter boots I give them a good polish and shine, plus some half-hearted polish in between. I have to say, I have a lot of very good shoes, actually there are two pairs I've had for almost 15 years and they still look great. I think the trick is never to wear the same pair two days in a row and take care of them regularly (polish, take to the cobbler's). Good cobblers shine shoes as well!

I don't. DH does though. He can spend hours polishing his shoes and usually does mine and dd's as well.

Nah...only clean 'em if I need to wear them.

But then, I went to boarding school where we had "indoor shoes and outdoor shoes" and Sunday morning, after church inspection of said footwear to inspect level of shinyness.

God, I must still be scarred!!!

Bags - v rarely.

Shoes - once a week. Friday afternoon after school. I am ex-military and Dh is still serving and we both notice scruffy shoes so can't abide it.

(Not trainers and walking boots - I mean I clean and polish shoes I want to look semi-decent in - either to wear to look good going out, or to work - also school shoes. Completely ruins the professional look if you have scraped/scuffed footwear IMHO.)

Shoes - weekly, bags -rarely. Can't be doing with scruffy looking shoes

School shoes - every couple of days on some weeks!!

Wow! Actually I've never polished bags.

But shoes, yes. Weekly for whatever is in use, or more often if they look dirty. With a proper wax based polish. Makes sure they last.

I never used to, but I have some new boots I'm in love with which get a weekly polish and so everyone elses get a once over while I'm at it.
