I am going to buy myself some new boots as a birthday present to myself, can't find any I really like. I want flatish brown leather boots which will look good with short dresses and trousers. £150 max price!

Any help appreciated!

Would [[

I think it's a matter of personal taste as to whether you like them or not, but I can tell you that Fly boots have no waterproof qualities and very quickly look scratched.

Glad to see you're going for brown, though - I much prefer them to black.

plasticface · 19/02/2011 16:36

Oh, I keep hearing good things about Fly. Any alternative ideas?

I like them. Id wear those boots with them. Then again i'm not known as a stylish person

AintMissBeehiving · 19/02/2011 17:17

I'm not a fan of Fly boots and those remind me of wellies. I think that they're too chunky for that dress, which I do like though!

missfairlie · 19/02/2011 17:21

Something like this? maybe out of price point but you get the general idea...

odetothewestwing · 19/02/2011 17:44

plasticface, I just bought some fly boots almost the same as the ones you linked to - they were £45 from Amazon in the sale so have a look on there. I have narrow feet and find it hideously hard to find footwear that fits. These are brilliant for me - soooo comfy that I don't really care whether they are waterproof or not!

plasticface · 19/02/2011 17:58

Thanks missfairlie, they are nice. I do feel a bit like I'm in wellies when I wear similar boots but I don't like/can't wear heeled "ladies" boots.
Ta for the tip odetothewestwing!

The dress is lovely - have you tried Camper for boots?

bristolcities · 19/02/2011 19:35

I keep linking these I think there lovely, bit like calf length biker boots. Would look great with your lovely dress and skinnies.

loobylu3 · 19/02/2011 22:54

these are lovely
I had my eye on them last year. The leather is v soft and them were v comfortable on.

plasticface · 20/02/2011 10:26

I agree bristolcities, I'm sure I've seen those on sale somewhere, maybe amazon.

Loobylu, I had just found those same boots...I'll have to try them on!

I have these which look great with dresses and over skinnies. They're really bloody comfortable and have worn them practically every day since I bought them. They get loads of compliments too. They're out of stock in most sizes but you'll probably be able to find them elsewhere.

plasticface · 20/02/2011 15:53

Wow, I had also just found these for my shortlist too...! You lot have the same taste as me.

ooh

OP posts:
plasticface · 20/02/2011 17:49

I know no one really cares but...I think I am going to buy these.
Just tried to interest DH with my boot dilemma but he wouldn't be drawn in, just said "80 quid!".
Need someone to tell me I should....not too good at spending money!

OP posts:
bristolcities · 20/02/2011 18:09

I like them, there a bit like builders boots but that's not a bad thing.

kerstina · 20/02/2011 18:12

Preferred your ooh brown ones but still a good choice I love Fly boots. Am small and the wedge heel ones think they were called Yarg boots gave me some height but were also really comfortable. Just wish i had them years ago !

plasticface · 20/02/2011 18:31

The ooh ones are a funny rough leather which I wouldn't be able to polish so might not be waterproofable...but the price is gooood. I think the camel ota ones are the best choice, or dr martens...aaaarrgggh.

I bought these in December and I love them, they go with everything, skinny jeans, leggings, dresses and are v comfy. I paid full price for them but they are now in the sale....

Fumblina · 21/02/2011 10:24

My sister has the Cats that bristolcities linked. She wears with jeans, jumper dresses, dresses, everything

Years later and I still covet them...

nicole333 · 22/02/2011 12:47

plasticface I've got the Fly Ota's but in chocolate brown. I use Dr Martens clear dubbin (about 3 or 4 quid) on mine for waterproofing after a demo in the shop, showing that it doesn't change the colour. I think it was the same colour as yours that was used for the demo. If you get some of this stuff, make sure you concentrate on the stitching holes obviously!

I love my Ota's and they are so comfortable. I ended up needing a size 3 as I can vary between a 3 and a 4 these days. I tend to wear them with jeans, either over the top or giving my straight jeans a cuff. I've not had the guts to wear them any other way yet.
