flared jeans ... hit or miss?

Am tempted by flared jeans which I believe are one of this season's hot looks. I am tall (5 11) and skinny bottom half (size 10-12) but mahoosive top half (in relation to bottom half). I believe Gok would say I am an inverted triangle.

So what do you all think about flared jeans (if you think about them at all)? Where are best ones from? How should they be worn (ie what shoes, tops)?

Stylish advice much needed...

I wear mine with knee length dresses or kaftan/tunic type tops over them.

Am 5'4" and an hourglass.

Not sure your body shape matters as long as the jeans fir you well.

FoundWanting · 19/02/2011 13:25

I want some black ones to wear with clogs and a sheer(ish) blouse.

I think Gok would say flares are perfect for you because they balance out your shape. I would probably wait untill summer or you might end up with soggy bottoms. Maybe team with a plain T or gypsy top.

I was going to say only wear flares if you are tall and slim and you are (I hate you)

I would wear with a fittedish top and platform sandals, but a little tailored jacket can look quite nice, open, if you want to disguise your boobs

Your height with good legs - hell yeah I would! And platforms would look fab.

I have a pair of flare jeans (about 10 years old) and I LOVE them! The zip is broke so I hopefully I can get that fixed.

I don't think it matters what shape you are. Not sure where you can buy any decent ones from tho..

I am busty and love flares. You need to get the top right and I need to wear heels but you are tall so prob not such an issue.I like scoop neck t shirt with 3/4 sleeves and a scard and high wedges.they are surprisingly flattering

noddyholder · 19/02/2011 14:50

some here

Meglet · 19/02/2011 14:52

I'll get a cheap Primark pair in the summer but they're useless on rainy days. So I'll probably get to wear them once in our climate Hmm.

cyb · 19/02/2011 14:53

I dont think you can carry ANY extra weight around your bum/tops of thighs with those

So count me out!

takeonme · 19/02/2011 14:59

Just been out (in RL!) to try some on in Whistles. Looked good but £££ and VERY long (which I'm not really used to). Have to wear a hefty pair of heels to avoid soggy bottoms. Definitely summer wear not rainy Feb wear. Like the high waist.

(BTW I'm only slim up to my hips, then built like a shot putter on steroids - apologies to any shot putters - so please only be 50% jealous).

Yep, they will balance out your shape and you have a good height for them Envy

I am 5ft so am sticking to skinny flares with high high heels and wedges.

notyummy · 19/02/2011 23:02

I am 5ft 10 and a large 10 (28 in Top Shop jeans). I think TS have a reasonable range, Inc skinny flares that are flattering. Some of them are not too high cut at the waist which j think makes them easier to wear.
