Eyelid concealers/ bases/primer

Not sure of the right words but has anyone sued a good eyelid primer?

Recently changed my foundation- Clinique_ but it says avoid eyes. Ihave noticed that using iton my eyelids makes me eyes water slightly. However, my eyelids are quite pink and I need some kind of base before applying eye shadow. My previous foundation was perfect but they have discontinued the shade.

I use B Brown under eye concealer- do they do a lid primer?

I have fairly sensitive skin and use upper end cosmetics as they seem to irritate less.

Urban Decay eye primer is like magic. I can wear any eye shadow now and it stays on all day

brimfull · 19/02/2011 13:23

said-do they sell UD primer in big Boots store?

said · 19/02/2011 13:25

Yes, they do. In a purple packet. Don't get the gold one, that is shimmery (but still works)

brimfull · 19/02/2011 13:28

thanks will look out for it, much easier to get to a boots than anywhere that sells mac makeup

maize · 19/02/2011 13:29

I use Clinique Touch Base www.clinique.co.uk/product/1598/5169/Makeup/Eye-Shadows/Touch-Base-for-Eyes/index.tmpl it is pretty cheap and lasts all day. I have converted loads of my friends to it.

cabbageroses · 19/02/2011 13:38

thanks I was wondering about the Clinique Touch Base. I will check out MAC too.

yes thats the mac one . it does last ages, i have dry skin and it suits me fine. dont know if its as good on oily skin though.

cyb · 19/02/2011 14:08

yy to clinique eye base

BelligerentGhoul · 19/02/2011 14:09

I usually use the UD one but like the look of the Clinique. A lot of the reviews on the Boots site say that it is too sparkly though - is it?

coastgirl · 19/02/2011 14:13

I love the UD one - but second not getting the gold one. It works fine but it's a bit too eveningy for day.

maize · 19/02/2011 14:46

Is the Clinique one shimmering do you mean?

There are too shades - canvas and canvas light, canvas light has a slight sheen to it but canvas is very nude and matt.

BelligerentGhoul · 19/02/2011 16:41

Thanks Maize.

maize · 19/02/2011 17:37

Oh God - of course I meant two shade, I can spell Blush

WheeshtWillYe · 20/02/2011 05:19

Benefit Lemon Aid is fab. It's a pale yellow colour so hides any darkness. It's very matt so eye shadow stays put.

I really like the Laura Mercier eye primer in Wheat, which you can wear on its own for a no-make-up but groomed effect. My new favourite is By Terry's Hyaluronic Eye Primer.

Mumsnut · 20/02/2011 15:32

Second the Laura Mercier - totally nude tone.

Umnitsa · 20/02/2011 20:08

Laura Mercier here as well.

brimfull · 21/02/2011 16:57

well I got the Urban Decay one and it looked ok until I looked in the magnifying bit of my mirror
looked all dry and ageing up close
so removed it
failure on my ageing eyelids
will donate to dd I think

Schmaffy · 21/02/2011 17:18

Urban Decay for me (although the applicator is v.annoying ...)

BelligerentGhoul · 21/02/2011 20:45

Ggirl - you only need a tiny bit and then put your eyeshadow straight on top - shouldn't be able to see it at all then. Or did it make your eyeshadow seem dry?

brimfull · 21/02/2011 20:48

hmm may have put too much on
I put it all over eyelid to just above crease level
then powder shadow
will have another go tomorrow
