How to get really shiny lovely hair?

Think I should be doing bit more with my hair. Do basics, cut every 6 weeks, blah blah, don't use straighteners too much, its not coloured, but still just bit meh, not shiny or overly healthy looking! Not damaged or anything either, just not great.

Should I be using more products - just use whatever shampoo + conditioner is on offer @ supermarket Blush.

I feel like I should be using some spray-y type stuff, but no idea where to start! Asked my hairdresser what he uses when he does mine, but they use mega expensive stuff, so thats out... help please!

Ta.

Shine serum? :o
Morrocan oil? Quite expensive, but shine serums aren't - I'm sure you can get cheap little bottles for under a fiver, which aren't bad but might need washing more often

Permanent (AKA Brazilian) blow dry. Works wonders.

Pricey, but life changing. Smile

Didn't know they existed! Should I just use any old one from Boots? Washing thing not issue, have to wash it every day anyway as quite oily, plus ds likes to stick it in his mouth and occassionally is sick in it Hmm

Anyone know if there's anything I can eat to make my hair shinier? Avocados? Nuts?

Pootles2010 · 17/02/2011 21:08

Unfortunately pricey not option - on mat pay, then will be paying astronomical nursery fees. Plus brazilian blowdry makes me giggle, mental image of blowdrying one's undercarriage...

Using Redkin shampoo and conditioner has really made a difference to my hair. Not cheap, but I find the bottles last me 3-4 months.

Funny enough I was reading the 'HairFlair & Beauty' magazine tonight and they are raving about morrocan oil...they say it really is amazing for all types of hair !!

But what about food - feeding hair from within?

catinboots · 18/02/2011 09:12

morrocan oil

It's expensive but I only use it once a week and it seems to make my hair really glossy.

Washing your hair too often can strip it of shine too.
