I shall not put my feet in birkenstocks again - come point me onto the road of lovely spring feet...

That's it last years have now been binned and I will not spend another 6 months of the year with flat shoes for spring/summer.

Come show me what I can wear on my feet for when the sun starts to shine...

Oooh. I shall watch this with interest, as i too need some new ideas for summer footwear.

wannabefree · 16/02/2011 20:47

Whilst we're on the subject, can someone please educate me why Birkenstocks are so amazing?

wannabefree · 16/02/2011 20:48

I view them with the morbid fascination I reserve for Uggs-wearers. I am genuinely asking, though. Could someone please explain?

itstheyearzero · 16/02/2011 21:00

Comfy comfy comfy!!

indigobarbie · 16/02/2011 21:01

Me too, really comfy! I've got low arches, flat wide feet, they really are a bit ugly but nicer than some 'comfortable' sandals....

marriednotdead · 16/02/2011 21:04

They have a shaped footbed which supports feet that don't naturally stay in the right position.

If your feet collapse inwards (pronate to use the correct term) as mine do, they are the only sandals you can wear without feeling as if you have been sentenced to a lifetime of firewalking Sad

cakeywakey · 16/02/2011 21:07

I have to wear them because of arthritis in my foot joints. I don't love them, but my feet do. Just wish they weren't so fecking huge. I can walk for miles in mine though and they are the comfiest shoes I own. I miss pretty shoes Sad

ceebeegeebies · 16/02/2011 21:08

I have no idea if these would be considered 'trendy' or 'stylish' but I have bought a pair for this summer and they are very pretty and I can't wait to start wearing them!

RiojaLover75 · 16/02/2011 21:19

Sadly any walking over about a mile gives me blisters in Birkenstocks...... What the hell am I doing wrong??

wannabefree · 16/02/2011 21:20

I s'pose they do look comfy. I have that pronating problem, so they'd probably be good for me. Thanks for clearing that up!

Nobody's explained the obsession with Uggs, though...I've always thought the name is very appropriate!

Alibobster · 16/02/2011 21:20

Love love love my birkenstocks - one of the few highlights of the summer

RiojaLover75 · 16/02/2011 21:22

When I say blisters, I mean huge blisters on the ball of my foot or the sole of the heel areas Sad

LaurieFairyCake · 16/02/2011 21:25

I have about 15 pairs and they are really comfortable all day in summer.

I buy the pretty styles and I have small, narrow feet so they look fine on me.

They don't look great on untended feet that are all hairy and hobbit like.

cakeywakey · 16/02/2011 21:29

Rioja, are you buying the right foot shape/width? They do a couple of different fittings. Or are your feet supersoft Grin

MaeMobley · 16/02/2011 21:32

ceebeegeebies, they look like the Scholl sandals my mother wore in the seventies!

I am a Birkenstock lover because I have a bunion on my left foot.

CarGirl · 16/02/2011 21:33

I have horrible foot and knee problems so birkenstocks all the way for the summer. Permenantly cured my athletes foot too!

I have lots of pairs of different styles too.

Stylelostinlabour · 16/02/2011 21:45

No no no ladies - you have missed the point I want something other than birks..

I want style, heel, comfy and stamps foot (whilst leaning into bin to retrieve shoes)

And all this talk of bunions, wide feet and athletes foot is not making them look sexy... get a grip ladies, come so me something lovely

Do you have difficult feet in terms of size or shape?

I went to duo to try and boots and came away with a lovely lovely pair of heeled shoes - they are like walking on air all because they do decent width fittings.

cakeywakey · 16/02/2011 21:47

Sorry OP, I was answering Wannabe's post. I have no suggestions I'm afraid as they're the only blasted things I can wear in the summer. Apart from Crocs I wish you well in your gorgeous summer shoe search Grin

CarGirl · 16/02/2011 21:49

I got these - more of a spring shoe but they are just so comfortable.....

indigobarbie · 16/02/2011 21:50

erm......
these?

marriednotdead · 16/02/2011 21:52

So what to wear before it's warm enough for sandals?

I've just bought [[http://www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/womens-c1/shoes-c2/clarks-un-lady-ii-black-leather-casual-shoe-p5942
these]] out of sheer desperation as they are the only thing I tried that didn't hurt, but they are so not me. Someone stole my twinkletoes and gave me old lady feet Sad
