outfit for girls' get-together?

kind of a reuinion - but not in the sense of seeing people I haven't seen since 5th form. it's a group of fantastic life-long friends who only manage to get together about once a year. probably dinner in - but it might be out (not sure). I've completely lost my clothing mo-jo and need inspiration and guidance. I used to live in Jigsaw but rarely go near the place these days (as far as I can see it hasn;t actually changed since I started shopping there about 10 years ago - it all looks the same). I kind of like White Stuff but mainly in theory - most of it just doesn;t look quite right when I put it on. I like LK Bennet for smart stuff. I'm 5 foot 1 and a size 8-10.

What's your budget?

Are you curvy or boyish?

Do you want to show off/hide anything?

moragbellingham · 16/02/2011 18:57

this from Kew is on my wish list.

budget - mid range - I haven't spent money on clothes for ages and this should be something I'll get a lot of wear out of. so kind of happy to spend a reasonable amount - but not be ripped off. figure - a small pear I guess - neither boyish, nor curvy, but perhaps there's a pound on my hips that could go. in terms of highlighting my best bits I have quite nice long red hair and runners legs (toned below the knee but not skinny)

not so sure about the tea dress - needs attitude and the right accessories to avoid the WI look. quite like this though. but I'm a bit sceptical about it being linen. it'll look like a dish rag after half an hour won't it?

bootcut skinny jeans, check out gap online, they have a nice sale on jeans and a yummy snuggly knit, maybe something like this? if you will be having a nice in or a casual dinner out.

What about this?

this?

this?

I like tethers' whistles suggestion.
I am similar size to you and I like whistles - good quality imo. Personally I don't rate VWA for short petite people - it doesn't do anything for me and the twistyness of the garments would drive me up the wall, I'd be constantly adjusting.
Mango can be disappointing quality-wise.
What about LK Bennett - this would look nice against red hair - they have it in a coloured animal print too?
