What is the best foundation you have ever used?

cornslik · 16/02/2011 15:43

chanel vitalumiere

SwearyMary · 16/02/2011 15:45

Benefit You Rebel, its a tinted moisturiser but its fab and has an SPF of 15.

Havingkittens · 16/02/2011 15:50

Foundation thread must've fallen off the end of the page again Wink There's a new one every 10 days or so!

DeLadyDeGaga · 16/02/2011 16:24

Tesco Moisture Foundation in Medium.

Seriously. Use other stuff from time to time but always return to Barbara Daly's foundation. Don't rate anything else, have to say but this foundation is yellow based, has SPF20, lasts well and ...... is about £7.

I've recently bought some Bobbi Brown stuff for a special occasion and in an attempt to get away from "shimmer" now I've reached a certain age. When I was at the counter, the BB lady asked which foundation I had on assuming it was one of theirs or a Dior one because it looks good on my skin and there's no pink in it (a Bobbi essential). I told her. She said she wouldn't recommend anything else seeing how it was a good match for my skin.

I would highly recommend.

Estee Lauder Doublewear only thing that lasts ALL DAY...never lets me down. Apply with a brush or it can look heavy

A good budget alternative is Rimmel new 25 hr lasting finish. Really nice dewy finish, good amount of coverage and lasts really well. have already converted a few friends to it. Boots doing 2 for £9 just now!

CointreauVersial · 16/02/2011 16:36

My current one - Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish. It's a mineral powder foundation with a little grinder that dispenses a little of the product when you turn it.

It's matt without being at all "powdery", and just the right coverage (medium); I love it.

lucyspangle · 16/02/2011 16:57

Can't go past Clinique Superfit-tried Chanel Mac and estee-still think Clinque the best-though Almay used to be my cheaper option-do they even exist nowadays?

Evizza · 16/02/2011 17:00

My favourite is Avon Cream to Powder as its natural looking, dries flawless and matte (without being cakey looking) and its good for when you are in a rush as it takes seconds to apply with no mess Smile

lipglossandlashes · 16/02/2011 19:19

I adore Chanel Pro Lumiere, I've really oily skin and this seems to smooth out my pores and it lasts all day with just a couple of touch ups during the day. Tried Vita Lumiere but too silky for my oil slick and Estee Lauder Double wear was really mask like and thick (applied with brush, sponge and finger tips, showed up my pores, tried 2 colours and still couldn't match my skin), Clinique Superfit is ok and Dior Forever would be my second choice if I couldn't get my lovely Chanel! It seems to be like a treatment for my skin I love it! I'm a product junkie and don't waste my money on cheaper foundations and mascara now as they just don't work as well, and I feel I've tried them all!

Laura Mercier!

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/02/2011 19:38

Eclat Opulent by By Terry or Teint Miracle by Lancome (but By Terry beats it hands down - the texture and colour are perfect)

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/02/2011 19:39

I couldn't bear Doublewear - it was like PVA glue and made me all blotchy.

Wanted to like Vitalumiere as it was recommended by so many people however it is yellow in tone, and I have pink undertones to my skin so looked awful on.

lololizzy · 16/02/2011 20:24

at the moment..loving Gosh and also Rimmel 25 hr. Recent ones to see the bin or ebay were..bourjois bio detox, laura mercier tinted moisturiser and maybelline eraser.

DeLadyDeGaga · 16/02/2011 20:35

Funny so many of you have mentioned the Doublewear being like PVA Glue. I was stunned to find that my 16yr old step daughter had recently bought EL Doublewear for her very young teenage skin.

Even I wouldn't wear something that heavy. Doesn't make sense that assistant allowed her to purchase.

cakeymakey · 16/02/2011 20:45

Lancombe Teint Miracle without doubt. Great for more pinky complexions.....tried Chanel Vitalumiere and it was too oily and yellow for me - gave it to my mum......

OhKit · 16/02/2011 22:16

DiorSkin Nude!!!! But it would all depend on your skin type/preferences etc

Granard · 16/02/2011 22:56

My best foundation is Eclat Opulent (By Terry), closely followed by Future Skin (Chatecaille). Both from Space NK.

Havingkittens · 17/02/2011 00:10

Ms Bobbi Brown, I hope you are reading this thread! Yes, it's true, there are people out there that are NOT yellow.

sparkle1977 · 17/02/2011 12:47

Will have to try the Barbara Daly one, sounds great!

Currently using YSL Perfect Touch and I love it.

lololizzy · 17/02/2011 15:45

could anyone tell me more about the Eclat Opulent? eg what skin type it suits..does it look v natural etc..

DonaAna · 17/02/2011 15:55

I've just tried Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. It's supposed to be a lighter formulation of the classic. Feels great - light, durable, not too dry, very slightly luminous, good (medium) coverage. I have combination skin and am trying to cover some redness. I also have some dry and flaky patches. DWL is just about the best foundation I've ever tried - but I have a feeling even the lightest shade is a tad too dark for me. Perhaps okay in the summer, but not great for corpse-like midwinter skin.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 17/02/2011 16:12

I use DW if I need it to last allll day (or if my skin is very greasy because other foundations slide) and DWL normally. I also have a nice mineral one from EL bought in an emergency!

I think matching to your skin tone is the absolute most important thing and EL may as well have taken scrapings of mine and mixed it in liquid firm. I tan in shades of DW!
