Hi

Am planning a wee trip down to Dublin at the start of March.

Have just realised there is a COS on grafton street.

Is there anywhere else you would recommend - apart from the obvious arnotts and BT.

I used to be in Dublin quite regularly but have since changing jobs I've stopped going down and so have lost touch with all the lovely shops.

TIA

What sort of shops do you like ? Brown Thomas is prob the closest to Selfridges- lots and lots of designers but at lots of different price points.

The COS is in BT2- a diffusion store of Brown Thomas - younger, cooler and cheaper...

To be honest I am hardpressed to think of a store in and around Grafton Street that is not a UK store.

One place that is lovely is Avoca on Suffolk street- the clothes may be a bit mumsy but the store is lovely- sort of an Anthropologie vibe.... Powerscourt Town Centre is worth a look also..

Be warned, the COS is in a corner of BT2 and consists of a couple of rails, so don't get too excited.

Sadly a lot of the quirky shops in Dublin have closed down in the last year or so. My favourite boutique is Costume on Drury Street and across the road is Smock although they carry very little stock now. At the end of Drury St on Exchequer St, Fallon and Byrne is a fantastic food shop with a lovely and reasonably priced restaurant upstairs, good for lunch. There is a lovely childrens shop, Pearl on the corner of Sth King st and Sth William St.

As bats says I'd probably head for Avoca for home stuff and afternoon tea, and then that just leaves BTs. Arnotts has had a bit of a make-over and has lots of new labels, but that's about it. You could always hop on the Luas to Dundrum, Harvey Nichols is always good for whiling away an hour.

Hope you have fun Smile

I always love a trip to Korkys for shoes that are that little bit different. There is one on Grafton Street and one on Henry Street. I also find a trip to the big Pennys on O'Connell Street great for stocking up on basics like plain t-shirts and other bits and bobs.
Haven't been in Dublin in ages - you've made me want to go now!

Thanks all

I'm in Belfast so we have an avoca here too - food lovely but hubby baulks at the price of it!

Forgot about Korkys littledolly must add that to the list.

VerityBrulee - does the Luas go from St Stephens green to Dundrum?

batsforlashes - I love BT but only to look - used to buy MAC makeup there when we didn't have it up north but mostly is out of my price range. Must check out the new Arnotts.

Has anyone been to the forever 21 store in the Jervis centre? Was googling it last night - is it any good? or would I be better sticking to penney's?

Also is Cafe de Seine still open? Might treat my boys to lunch there

Thanks for all the lovely advice.

Cafe en Seine is stil open.

I have to admit I find Grafton St has gone downhill over the years, lots of mobile phone shops and the generic high st stores you find everywhere. BTs is still worth a browse of course! As one of the other posters said you'd be beter off going out to Dundrum shopping centre - and its served by the luas green line from Stephens Green. This link should help as it gives you all the directions you'll need plus details of all shops in the centre. www.dundrum.ie/your-visit/getting-here/

That new Forever 21 shop is down in the Jervis St shopping centre so might also be worth a look. Have a nice trip!
