or can recommend an excellent hairdressers in Liverpool for lowlights & cut and blow dry? Myself and friend planning day trip into Liverpool and both wanting our hair done. Any recommendations with name of salon/stylist please? Budget up to £100 Smile

I can recommend an absolutely excellent hairdressers in Liverpool - Herberts. He is a local celeb, but the stylists in there are excellent.

I do think it may be a bit over your budget, although not sure so may be worth ringing to check.

Let me know if you decide on this one. I have been to Vidal Sassoon and don't think they are anywhere near as good personally.

There is another one that is meant to be really good but I can't remember the name - not much use to you sorry!

kuckingfunt · 13/02/2011 21:52

meant to add - the Style Directors are the ones I would recommend.

applecrumbleandcream · 13/02/2011 21:54

Kucking, do you go to Herberts? If so, can you recommend anyone in particular? Could stretch our budgets (a bit) if required I suppose.

apples, I will pm you now.

jonicomelately · 13/02/2011 21:59

My worse ever haircut was at Sassoons in L'pool. Go to Herberts.

kuckingfunt · 13/02/2011 22:01

Me too joni, Herberts is far better than any in Liverpool imo.

applecrumbleandcream · 13/02/2011 22:02

Joni, who do you see at Herberts?

Kucking, thanks that would be great!

Sent you a message apples!

applecrumbleandcream · 13/02/2011 22:15

Thanks Kucking - sounds really good. Just had a look at their website and prices a bit Shock but willing to pay more for something really nice. Would you be able to have the Style Director for haircut/dry and Stylist for lowlights?

Looking for something like this but in chocolate brown with red lowlights?

How do you have your hair cut?

Yes, they are a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. I'm not sure if you could mix them and have the stylist for lowlights and the style director for the cut. I have my coloured when I go - the SD comes and talks to me about colour and leaves one of the young girls to apply the colour - he checks it throughout though and when its ready to be taken off tells them. Then he does the cut.

The one I recommended is really good for colour - if I go in and ask for a certain colour he is very honest and tells me if he thinks it will suit me or not. If he thinks not he will always come up with something that he thinks would be better. I trust him 100% and always go with what he says. I have never been dissapointed. I suppose that comes with time though - I have been going for years now and built up a lot of confidence in him.

My hair used to be in a concave bob but I am growing it now so it is almost at my shoulders but layered around my face a bit. He refused to layer it for a while until it had grown because he said it would look odd. Its long enough now though so i have a few choppy layers in it. I have it coloured a chocolate brown colour - I used to have red lowlights in it too but have stopped doing that for now and gone a bit darker brown.

I think that style you linked is lovely and would look lovely with the colours you want.

Herbert himself is a complete tool though

kuckingfunt · 13/02/2011 23:24

I agree BoF - I have loads of insider info on him too.

kuckingfunt · 13/02/2011 23:25

Good luck apple, hope you love it! When are you going?

applecrumbleandcream · 13/02/2011 23:32

Will have a word with friend who's coming with me (though I need hair cut more than her atm) and see when's best for both of us to have day off work - probably week after next (Thurs or Friday). Presuming Saturday would be really busy so wanted to avoid a Saturday if can help it. Can't wait!!!

So will I spot Herbert when I get there?!

OP posts:
kuckingfunt · 13/02/2011 23:55

Yes, Saturday's can be really busy - I prefer to go in the week as I always feel that they have more time for me then!

Herbert might be there - he isn't always, it depends on what else he is doing - he also spends a lot of his time at his home in Turkey at the moment. But, if you go on a weekday you will have more chance of seeing him - you can't miss him!

Where are you travelling from? Have you been to Liverpool before for a weekend? You'll love it.

jonicomelately · 14/02/2011 17:53

Glad you got sorted apples. I left the thread before I saw your question.

I hope you have a great time in Liverpool.

kuckingfunt · 14/02/2011 19:11

do you go to herberts joni? Who do you see there?

jonicomelately · 14/02/2011 20:27

I used to go although I don't now as I've found somewhere else. Not that Herberts isn't good. It's a Liverpool institution Grin.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 14/02/2011 20:30

Is Herbert still around then?
< Vague memories of Himself getting out of a flash car with matching fur-clad girlfriend and strutting into his salon circa 1980s >

Makes me go all warm inside to think he's still doing his thing.

kuckingfunt · 15/02/2011 11:54

Yes he is very much still around, still as flash as ever Grin

applecrumbleandcream · 16/02/2011 21:06

Joni/Kucking - sorry to only just be getting back to thread - been working last couple of nights (and no chance of getting on laptop during day) so only just got chance to update you on my quest for lovely hair!!

Thanks for all your help! Will let you know how I get on Smile
