Lipstick that REALLY stays put - tried and tested please

I recently dug out an ancient Ultraglow Magic Lips lipstick, you know the ones that are green or yellow etc then change colour when you put it on, allegedly to suit your colouringHmm. Anyway, they always came out bright pink whatever but... bloomin'ell they stay on so well you need paintstripper to get it off again!

So, bright pink is ok but I'm looking for a classic red with similar staying power. Quite like Benetint for staying power but again, it's too pink.

Any recommendations please?

Wow, just googled and they still make Magic Lips for anyone who wants to try it.

I can't think of any stain ones but there are the ones that sort of "set" on your lips and then you can put the balm or gloss that comes with them over the top. I don't like the feeling of wearing them but they do last very well.

The only one I've tried is MAC's Pro Longwear in "Lasting Lust" but there are others. Max Factor's Lipfinity, for example.

Matte Red lipsticks stay on for ages longer than the shinier ones. MAC's RubyWoo is quite longwearing, but dry. I love Christian Dior's Diorific lipstick in Roulette Red (Rouge Bingo is its french name) which doesn't bleed and stays on very well.

I second MAC Ruby Woo, or Russian Red, try filling your lips in with a lip pencil then put lipstick over the top, makes it last even longer.

Max Factor Lip Finity doesn't make my lips feel strange but the revlon equivalent does - it is a two part gloss/balm set. It lasts for hours, the first time I wore it I found it a bit scary as it was still fully there about 11 hours after applying. They don't do many shades but there are a couple of reddish ones. Hope this helps.

What about Duwop? Brings back memories of old (the yellow or green ones I remember distinctly), haven't tried this out in RL though.

I like this Bourjois lip stain

But I have no idea why it's called high Tech or a lipstick. It's just a little pot of lip stain but has good staying power. You can't feel it on your lips like the Max Factor lipfinity

Any Chanel lipstick, but if you're on a budget, Barry M lipstick is fantastic.

Chanel rouge coco

feels amazing, lasts better than anything I've tried other than lipfinity (and when it does fade eventually, it fades in a nice and even way)

cannot rave about it enough (apart from the price, ouch)

lorelilee · 16/02/2011 11:43

I'm a Lipfinity fan. Lasts better if you don't eat at all, but still blinking brilliant.

ItsRoxie · 16/02/2011 11:58

I like the Bourjois lipstain too - I don't usually like the Lipfinity type which rests on your lips. The applicator is a bit rubbish though, I'd prefer a Benetint type brush instead of a sponge.

I've bought Lipink online, which I've found to be very long lasting - I often use it when I'm going out for a meal or spending the whole day out.

Second vote for Chanel rouge Coco. Lasts fantastically well and keeps lips supple (unlike Lip Finity). And yes, when it does fade it appears to do so evenly - without leaving you with that "worn off lipstick" look that you often get with reds.

My perfect shade is Rouge Orage. It isn't at all pinky.

For those of you who like a pinky red, can heartily recommend Chanel's Enigma.

CMOTdibbler · 16/02/2011 12:18

Lipfinity or MAC lipstain (double ended thing) last all day for me

moragbellingham · 16/02/2011 12:39

these lip pens are quite good but only four shades.

CointreauVersial · 16/02/2011 13:11

Max Factor Lip Tint pens are pretty good, but it does feel like you are drawing on your face with permanent marker! They stay on for ever.

I have a nice dark pinky shade.
