Converse-type trainers for chubby wide feet

mistressploppy · 13/02/2011 14:51

I've got Converse but they're a bit narrow and my size 8 feet look massive in them, especially if I wear them with a skirt/dress.

I had a pair of Boden Blush plimsolly things which I loved but they fell to bits..

Any recommendations for trainers that will fit my fat feet and not make them look too huuuge?

I have wide feet too and I'm a 7/8 but do wear both converse and boden plimsolls, so I don't have any better ideas I'm afraid!

just saw this, reading threads when should be working!

Keen do really lovely sneakers and definitely wider on the foot than Converse (I have v wide feet!)

Can't do links but google Keen Footwear - Coronado is the style I have.

I'm on my 4th pair and I love love love them!

(not sure how great they'd look with skirts/dresses though, maybe a bit clumpier than converse)

PF Flyers.... far comfier than converse as well!

Another vote for PF Flyers. Bargain prices at Amazon

Fitflop Supertones. Best trainers ever for wide hooves. Toned calves & thighs into the bargain.

caffeineaddict · 19/02/2011 16:47

Have massively wide hooves. Think the Fitflop supertone trainers may pinch a bit on toes - are they sufficiently soft to give a bit?

brimfull · 19/02/2011 16:54

I have massively wide hooves as well
I tried on the fitflop trainers and they felt wide enough
didn't buy though

i have got fitflop clogs and boots and they're wide enough if that helps

polyhymnia · 19/02/2011 17:00

Fitflop have just started doing the Supertones in suede. My feet are on the wide side, and I've just bought a pair. Lovely and soft, and generally comfortable - prefer them to the leather version, which I tried but didn't buy, last year. They are on all the usual websites - Running Bare, Fitflop, Boots, etc.

polyhymnia · 19/02/2011 17:01

PS also liked the fact that my size 41 feet didn't look huge in them, whereas they did in the silver leather Supertones I tried last year.

saw the suede ones in JL yesterday , they're really nice

caffeineaddict · 20/02/2011 12:00

Thanks - will investigate suede ff

I work for a marketing company that is doing some work Duo boots and shoes and if you are looking for shoes that fit comfortably for wide feet you will love what Duo has to offer. Just go to: www.duoboots.com/products/shoes/.

You can order custom fit shoes (both size and width) in a great range of styles so there is bound to be a pair that you will love just as much as your old Boden shoes.

Hope this helps somewhat.
