Several somethings actually!

  1. A black tux-style jacket but not too long - and preferably less than 70 pounds?

  2. a grey v neck dress with little sleeves and a fitted waist (and over the knee for a short-arse) - not polyester

  3. one of those necklaces that sit on top of a t-shirt and make it look all decorated and pretty - they usually have a ribbon tie

  4. a subtle nail varnish that isn't grey, black, navy blue or old lady pink (because I have lots of those already!)

Many thanks in advance. :)

1 - I'd try zara or TopShop but may be the wrong time of year for tux jackets - tend to be more around in the run up to xmas.

3 - H&M had some this week in charcoal grey which looked pretty.

4 - chanel particuliere - lovely beigey colour

Sorry no help on the dress.

If you put ribbon necklace into shopstyle.co.uk it brings up quite a lot of those bib necklaces.

traceybath · 12/02/2011 18:41

tux jacket

Clure · 12/02/2011 18:52

I have just bought this jacket I too am a short arse and fits very nicely

I got a nice fitted grey jumper dress from zara a couple of months ago though not sure they still have them

Ooh some replies already!

Saw the Topshop tux but it's too long for what I'm after. I want a sort of semi-cropped one I think.

What's the fabric like on the New Look one?

Never thought of looking in H&M for a necklace.

Chanel varnish sounds a distinct possibility.

When you say 'little sleeves' on the dress, do you mean short or long sleeves?

Like this?

Or this?

Or this?

Or this?

Or my favourite?

tethersend · 12/02/2011 19:15

Ignore the first one, tis polyester.

Hello by the way Smile

BelligerentGhoul · 12/02/2011 19:24

Hello yourself!

Omg that Alexander M one is gorgeous - I adore it. Sadly the DP's one is more my price range!

Most of the others would be too long on me.

"Little" = short or three quarter length if at all poss.

Cotton or a cotton silk mix would be good - and over the knee.

Thanks - my price range for a dress is up to about 80 pounds, unless it's Westwood, in which case I'd go up to 200. :)

new look one has a slight sheen, it may crinkle easily, I don't really do smart but figured its ok for £18!

BelligerentGhoul · 12/02/2011 19:26

Thanks Clure - I'd probably rather pay a bit more for better fabric tbh but I will have a look in store. H&M sometimes have mega-cheap jackets and the quality actually isn't too bad. Didn't see anything today though.

Grey dress.

BelligerentGhoul · 12/02/2011 19:31

Thanks FW - not fond of that one, though. I should have said that it's more of a work-style one I'm after, not a knit dress.

Here?

Here? (Sophia dress)

BelligerentGhoul · 12/02/2011 19:51

I've tried the Hobbs one on and it's nice but too long.

I wonder if Gap might have anything? Will have a peek now.

Gorgeous but also way too long - I am a shrimp.

Jigsaw had got some nice worky dresses in today but not on the site and also more like £150 - helpful me Wink

tethersend · 12/02/2011 20:11

I think you should find one you like and take it up. It'll cost a few quid at a tailors/dry cleaners.

Right... am off to look for the other things on your list!

BelligerentGhoul · 12/02/2011 20:25

:) See, I don't mind getting it taken up but they tend to end up a bit boxy looking - would prefer it to be cut for a little-one!

Thanks though - the Alexander McQueen one would be short enough I bet!
