Help me find a bag like this, please?

I really like this bag from All Saints, but it's a heck of a lot of money given that I'm not too thrilled with the quality of the dress I've just bought from them. Can you find me anything similar-shaped/coloured I might like?

Bag here:

It needs to go with my winter coat, which is this:

Any ideas? Smile

Not keen on the leather of the first one - looks a bit plasticky to me (sorry).

Second and third are nice but I think would look better carried in the hand than on the shoulder, and it's really a shoulder bag I'm looking for.

Sorry to be so negative - just being picky as I'd love a bag I could keep for a good while.

Oh god, don't apologise.

I just bought this bag after three lengthy threads over 6 months which consisted of loads of people suggesting things and me whining like an ungrateful child.

It's so hard. What about something like this?

What's your budget?

TBH, I think you should probably just get the one you like...

JaneS · 11/02/2011 23:28

Yes, I have to admit I saw one thread about your bag and did tend to agree with the majority view.

I do quite like the one you've linked to - do you know how shiny it is in RL? Nice shape though.

I would love to just go for the All Saints one, but worry it might be crappy quality. I'd spend up to 250 if I had to to get something lovely, but would prefer it to be more like 100 or less.

Thanks!

I like this one but not sure if you would be keen on tan.

This Oushka one is nice - i love my Oushka bag!!

JaneS · 12/02/2011 11:30

Rachel - I love the colour of the second one, it's really unusual and pretty. Will have a good browse at that sight, I didn't know it before now. Thanks!

I have a plum leather one and a matching purse from last season and I love it!

This one is nice too!

MilkNoSugarPlease · 12/02/2011 15:14

Oh god! I LOVED that Jaeger bag a while back...and now it's down to £75!

Oh nooooo!!!

JaneS · 12/02/2011 15:31

Darn, DH doesn't like the Oushka one. Grrr!

I think I'll keep an eye on their site and see what comes up in the next few months - I like the general look of their stuff.

The All Saints bag reminds me a little of the Chloe Marcie.

Of course the Chloes are pretty expensive but would be the way to go if you want a bag that is classic, timeless, will stay in excellent condition and last for many years. The All Saints bag is around one third of the price and if you have quality concerns then it could be a fair amount of money thrown away if it is not durable and looks shabby quickly.

RachelHRD · 12/02/2011 17:22

Osprey bags are lovely too and very good quality - a bit more expensive but not up there with the Chloe bags - oh how I'd love to have 1k to spend on a bag!!

JaneS · 12/02/2011 17:28

HalfTerm - I think DH would kill me if I spent that much on anything - it's a month and a half's rent! Grin

Rachel - Osprey shape is nice, but not so keen on the colours. I really like the dark brown of the one I found, and purple - don't so much like plain black/tan if I can avoid it.

Ok, the bag you want is grey.

Here is the worlds best grey bag

I've now recommended this bag about 3 times, its just soooooo beautiful. And British if you care about such things.

RachelHRD · 12/02/2011 17:37

Chocolate??

RachelHRD · 12/02/2011 17:37

Can you tell I'm slightly bag obsessed Blush!!

HalfTermHero · 12/02/2011 18:06

LRD - Good point Grin.

I hope you find something nice, soon. Do you like satchels? The Cambridge Satchel Company do some lovely ones for really reasonable prices. They are pretty cool and come in lots of funky colours. I always think they look good when I see them worn.

Laurie - that is very pretty. I think I'd prefer something a bit more formal-looking though? Same goes for the satchels halfterm - basically, I'm on a bit of a quest to look less like the undergraduates I'm teaching. I don't dress like them but accessories/hair and makeup haven't really moved on since I was 17 or so! Blush

I really appreciate all this - I'm bookmarking loads of pages. Smile

Ok, what about Peony & Moore - they are gaining quite a following of late and are similar in style to Mulberry styles of days gone by. Quality is meant to be pretty impressive too - the Lucia is a popular style at the mo (shown on the homepage).

Here is the link!www.peonyandmoore.com/

JaneS · 12/02/2011 21:18

Mmm ... I've seen the link for Peony and Moore before, but am tending towards one, esp. if you've heard good things about the quality. Thanks!

OP posts:
JaneS · 12/02/2011 21:19

Aaaand ... DH hates them.

Grrr.

I could ignore him, but I think if he's buying me something, he should at least like it, poor bloke!

OP posts:
HalfTermHero · 12/02/2011 21:31

I have heard that the quality is indeed good! But if you want something that dh will like too then show him the Chloe - then the price - he will be doing a volte face on the Peony and Moore in no time GrinTo me. the Lucia looks like a 'grown up' bag, iykwim.

JaneS · 12/02/2011 22:08
Grin

That approach might work ...
