Anyone had a radical haircut?

I've recently lost a LOT of weight (five stones) and feel completely rejuvenated. I have a totally new wardrobe and feel so much more like "me" than I have done in years, which is fab. I'm going to the hairdressers later and really want to get my hair chopped off into a choppy, short, funky style - but am slightly worried about looking like "mutton" Grin. On the other hand, I feel that if I don't do it now I never will -and I'm only 40, for goodness' sake, and it will grow back!

Any thoughts? Experiences?

(My hair has been the same, medium length layers, since about eight years ago. It's very thick and slightly wavy.)

Hello Verso - popped over from my thread! I too am 40 so it's the whole Britney not Whitney scenario too..

As you know, I am in the same predicament so can't offer advice (sorry) enjoy the hairdressers!

Please post a pic of yours when you're done! I'm going to be brave (or possibly mental?) and ask the stylist to "do something cool" :-D I've asked for the best cutting person at the salon I usually go to and have some photos of styles I like... am quite excited actually!

(Only problem is I'm on a work conference most of next week so will have to find a hat if I don't like it!)

Good luck with yours!!

ooh, that does sound radical - fantastic!

Also, forgot to add, huge well done on the weight loss, you're on a roll lady!

I'm sure a hat won't be required..! Smile

I'm looking for a new cut too. What do you think of this?

Verso · 11/02/2011 14:24

That's pretty! I wish my hair was that well-behaved and straight...

I'm liking this (with more normal outfit and less eyeliner!)

I also like this but my hair is a lot thicker so I don't think it would work, alas.

Do it! I chopped my long term cut of boob length highlighted blonde (from natural brown) hair to a "frankie" from Saturday's pop group. It's a long side sweep fringe to chin one side and very short round the other ear. Felt rejuvenated! Dyed it dark too. Got wonderful comments off everyone. U should go for it.

Always grows back! Just go to a good salon or hairdresser u trust!!!

Well. It's different. But he refused to do it as short as I wanted because it's too thick. It looks nice but it's boring!! Ho hum. Maybe he thought I was going a step too far for my age or something? DH was nonplussed with my 'meh' reaction - thinks it's very different from how it was. Will post pics later!
