What are you buying in Hobbs with the £25 voucher from Red?

I don't want to put any money towards anything so will probably buy a vest. Disappointing you cant use it in a concession though. Will need to travel to purchase.

Feeling conned with this as I would not have bought Red magazine (90% glossy adverts)otherwise
Looked in house of Frazer hobbs nothing under £38.00Shock. I wanted to treat my mom but still could not afford to.

HotchpotchHoney · 11/02/2011 12:43

i wanted to use mine as discount for shoes, but the lady in my local store said shoes count as accessories. :(

LaCerbiatta · 11/02/2011 12:56

Is it this months's Red? Who's on the cover?
Thanks Smile

candycane111 · 11/02/2011 13:17

Does anyone know if you can you use more than one voucher per transaction? :-)

poorbuthappy · 11/02/2011 13:20

candycane111, doubt it, you can't usually.

So lets recap...

You can't use it in concessions, (haven't they got more concessions than stand alone stores?)
Nothing in there costs £25 or less
Can't be used for accessories

Mmmm, I think this offer takes the piss somewhat!

candycane111 · 11/02/2011 13:34

Hmmm...I got two magazines as wanted to get a couple of basic things. Local branch too far away to go twice...may see if they will do two seperate transactions or get dh to pay for one. Worth a try!

Pinner35 · 11/02/2011 13:37

I've got one of these cards, but not planning to use it so if anyone wants another one without wanting to buy the mag, let me know.

Fimbo · 11/02/2011 13:49

The vests are £25 on-line and there is a t-shirt iirc for £25. We are going away next weekend and should be able to fit a brief visit to Bluewater in, hopefully they will have something in there in the price range!

I'm amazed at those complaining that it's a rubbish "so called offer"

It's a £25 off voucher, not a free clothing coupon. It's quite common knowledge that Hobbs is at the higher price end of the high street brands. Most vouchers for the cheaper shops are more like 20-25% off so it's not much different proportionally. You all seem quite pleased, for example, when there is a 25% Warehouse voucher available.

Stock on concessions is often owned by the store that is selling it, so the fact that you can't use the discount on concessions is up to the store who owns the stock. Hobbs can't offer a discount on stuff that's not their own stock - this does not mean they are "taking the piss"

bagpusswasthebest · 11/02/2011 18:49

If anyone is near Portsmouth, there's a discount Hobbs store at Gunwharf Quays (not a concession).

kerstina · 11/02/2011 18:54

Well i did think it was too good to be true but thought i could get some socks or something.
Boring frumpy and overpriced their marketing of this 25 gift card has done nothing to change my opinion of Hobbs.

IngridBergmann · 11/02/2011 19:02

I agree it's a good discount but only if you are buying something in there anyway, and yes it is a very high priced (overpriced imo) shop.
I only buy sale stuff from there and I take it you can't use this card online? The sale is online only now.

But saying that if there's something for £38 that comes down to £13 with the card I'd say that was fair enough.

I do love a lot of their clothes. But they are well out of price range normally.

Ohforfoxsake · 11/02/2011 19:06

A cami is £25.

When does it expire? These things always have short dates.

IngridBergmann · 11/02/2011 19:06

May I think.

TheProvincialLady · 11/02/2011 19:09

I don't usually shop at Hobbs and TBH I wasn't very impressed when I went to look. Admittedly it was just a glance as I walked through John Lewis, but I saw a t shirt that looked almost see through, the quality was so poor. I have the card but I will have to fish it out from between the piano keys where DS2 posted it yesterday...not sure I can be bothered now though TBH. If I get a chance I will look in the shop rather than the JL concession.

IngridBergmann · 11/02/2011 19:11

I have some really nice things from there, vg quality. But strictly sale stuff.

NW3 stuff is either hideous or lovely.

madammecholet · 11/02/2011 19:54

I bought a fab breton T for £10! You can buy as many mags as you like and use again and again..

bargainous!Grin

whoneedssleepanyway · 13/02/2011 06:56

HPH shoes don't count as accessories, they define accessories on the back of the card and it doesn't include shoes so you should definitely be able to use it towards a full price pair of shoes.

I think it is a good offer if you are intending to buy something in there anyway. As will all these types of discount you have to spend money to get the saving.....

Lotstodo · 13/02/2011 09:54

Pinner35 - Hi and please, if you've still got your Red discount card I would love it as I'm trying to put together an outfit from Hobbs separates.

appleslice · 13/02/2011 19:08

Hi I have the hobbs card if any one would like it. As I dont have a hobbs near me.

polyhymnia · 13/02/2011 19:17

The manageress in my local Hobbs informed me this afternoon that shoes did count as accessories, which is somewhat disappointing. But I couldn't resist buying a necklace anyway, so now feeling somewaht guilty. DH agreed necklace nice but pointed out that 'you don't need it'. My argument is that I can use it to style several reasonably priced M and S Autograph tunics, so good value really.

Sorry, a bit off thread there. I obviously have a need to confess!!

dannyblanchflower · 13/02/2011 19:26

I've got one too - if anyone can use it message me.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 13/02/2011 19:57

Shoes are accessories but a necklace isn't? Hmm

zulinka · 14/02/2011 00:01

Hello, yes I,m reading the back of my discount card (admittedly it is late and my eyes are beginning to droop) but I can't see anything that say's you can only use one per transaction.
Anyone have the difinitive on this ?.

polyhymnia · 14/02/2011 10:27

Oh, yes, a necklace is an accessory - point was that, having been lured in by hope of using the card, I was weak-willed enough to buy something anyway! However, manageress did give me a 10% discount as a 'regular customer'. I guess managers must be given some discretion to do this.
