Why does make up make me look like a clown?

I am fairly young and make up has never looked right on me, I can put it on others and it look nice but the minute any comes near me I look silly.

I have pale skin and can just about wear a very light foundation, but blusher or bronzer looks silly. I have red lips but any lipstick looks like a clown, and eyeshadow makes my eyes look drowsy. So the only make up I ever wear is foundation. Does anyone else find the same?

Lipstick doesn't look good on me, either, vaseline or gloss do the trick.
Lay off the eyeshadow, there are creams and such that I use though the day MAC paint pot
Have you had a make up consultation?

Crawling · 10/02/2011 20:32

No I have not had a make up consultation I hadnt thought of that I might give it a try thanks Smile

A consultation should be a good start. They should recommend neutral/nudey shades for pale skin to avoid the clown look. what about mascara or having eyelashes coloured?

Crawling · 10/02/2011 20:37

I have my eyelashes tinted sometimes but I dont wear mascara because I wear contacts and it irritates them.

No look daft in make up too. I'd think carefully before approaching any of those orange women you see in department stores though.

er I look daft, obv.

Only approach the ones that are non-orange and you like the look of their make-up (you may have to search hard)! Bobbi Brown m/up has great natural colours
