come and look at my profile pics.

what do you think to that as a basis for the colour scheme of lime and cerise
?

i might do 3 larges pics like this, or maybe five

then use ceriseand lime cushions

cerise or lime rug

bits and bobs on those colours

what do you think

carriedababi · 10/02/2011 16:37

everything else in the house is white. and off white

and light wooden planked flooring

its for the living room and kitchen kitchen diner

the kitchen has light wood work tops, white gloss doors and white mosaic tiles

so its all white and light wood.

now i want to add some colour

I don't think you want to know what I think about a lime and cerise colour scheme. If it makes you happy, go with it.

TBH I wouldn't describe the colours you've used as lime and cerise, more deep pink and spring green. But maybe they aren't showing true on my screen.

ditavonteesed · 10/02/2011 16:41

my bathroom has spring green walls and all cerise towels and accesories, I love it it is very cheerful although think it might be a bit much for some people.

nickschick · 10/02/2011 16:41

I like it but its a bit 'little girls' room if you ask me.

Sorry.

carriedababi · 10/02/2011 16:42

oh i do want to know, i don't mind if its bad, i realise its not everyone cup of tea.
of time me with what you think to it.
i can take itSmile

the backdrop is def lime, althought the flowers may not be cerise enough

OP posts:
carriedababi · 10/02/2011 16:45

yes i know it might be a bit much for some
people.

only thing concering me is it will be a really large area we are doing, if it was just our bedroom, i wouldn't worry really, but its almost the whole downstairs!

noddyholder · 10/02/2011 16:48

All the white and wood sounds lovely.I think lime and cerise is a bit next/ikea and it might cheapen all your other stuff which sounds classic and stylish. Why don't you just wait until you see individual pieces you like over time rather than making it so matchy ?If you want colour maybe olive and plum would be less little girls bedroom

carriedababi · 10/02/2011 16:50

well if i don't go the the bold lime, i might do for sage olive greens and browns

garish/dull

i tend to be an all or nothing type person whos sometimes a drama queen ott

TattyFanny · 10/02/2011 16:51

Well, it's really not my taste. Quite revolting, IMHO, which is surely irrelevant.

But, you have to live with it and if it's a colour scheme you'll enjoy just go for it.

Am I right in thinking this is at least the third thread you've had on this in the last few weeks? Is it because you're trying really hard to be different but feeling quite unsure about it?

If you're unsure just scrap it and go for something more stylish subtle.

GrimmaTheNome · 10/02/2011 16:52

I think the problem with a pair of bold contrasting colours is that if you then get anything else which doesn't exactly match it'll look really out of place.

carriedababi · 10/02/2011 16:58

lol, yes bet you knew it was me didn't you!

i think the thing bothering me is its such a big area iyswim, the living room and kitchen dinner, so if i mess it up, its going to be a big mess up

although i did ask in next if i could buy loads of things try them in my house/see what they look like and if they are not right return them, and the lady said yes

so even though they dont have a rug i want, i can get one and see what it roughly looks like and teh colours etc

perhaps thats what i should do, get a load of stuff, try it out and see what ot looks like

maybe takes some pics for everyone on here to see?

carriedababi · 10/02/2011 16:59

grimma thats a fair point, also when the place is messy with toys, will they colour scheme make it seem more messy

OP posts:
GrimmaTheNome · 10/02/2011 17:23

maybe - I tend to think that anywhere that looks 'designed' has a harder time getting away with kids crap. (thats my excuse for lack of attempting interior design Grin)

GypsyMoth · 10/02/2011 17:26

i actually like it carrie!!Grin

GypsyMoth · 10/02/2011 17:28

cerise and lime toyboxes? they are available everywhere....good for hiding kids crap quickly

carriedababi · 10/02/2011 17:53

perhaps i could get a few bits and bobs and cushions and rug,
and take some pics then you can see what you think?

yomellamoHelly · 10/02/2011 18:42

My daughter's room is lime green and pale and bright pink. Is lovely and I think it's beautiful. But it's a box room and is very girly/OTT.

I'd be worried about how this would come across in a large area. For me your scheme would need some neutral accessories and a variety of textures chucked in to break it up.

That said I'm doing our bedroom plum and lime green (on a neutral base), so it must be something in the air.

carriedababi · 10/02/2011 21:53

actually i might go for a plum and lime, it might be slightly less garish?

Thought of you today carriedababi when I bought the March issue of Canada's Style at Home magazine...what should be on the front cover but a white lounge with a silver/pewter sofa, a fern coloured sofa and lime and cerise accent colours - looks gorgeous!

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 12/02/2011 01:09

Carried - I knew it would be you (again!!) LOL I think if you do what you planned before - all the white, one focus wall and the rug/cushions/prints etc it will be fab. I love the lime and cerise (the bright ones in your new profile pic). I think it will look fresh & lovely - I would just pick things up as I saw them though - I'm not one for going out on a mission to get 'a look'.

Plum & lime isn't anywhere near as fresh looking.

BigChiefOrganiser · 12/02/2011 01:45

If you have a chair in a floral with the lime/cerise and other colours in it, you'd be able to accessorise easier with the other colours.

I think it looks good if you have some patterns or florals with such bold colours, rather than blocks of colour

BigChiefOrganiser · 12/02/2011 01:56

have a look here for ideas

These lines are similar to the colouring you're after:

arabella
shema
oriental
