best eye makeup remover?

mollysmum82 · 10/02/2011 11:55

I bought some Kanebo 38degrees mascara by recommendation of you lovely mumsnetters and its fabulous, thank you!

Only problem is my (very basic) Simple eye makeup remover won't shift it! Can anyone recommend a heavy-duty-on-the-makeup-gentle-on-the-eyes remover for waterproof mascara?

Many thanks!

Ponds Cold Cream. As old as the hills, but it takes anything off. I've never found a better all-purpose cleanser.

Baby oil.

MayorNaze · 10/02/2011 12:35

body shop camomile eyemakeup remover

I really like lancome's biphase one (thought I am trying to wean myself off it and onto something cheaper before my ML starts - woe is me). You'll probably find anything with oil in will take it off.

mayornaze is the BS one really good? I read about it on facegoop but was worried it might be like the simple one which I find too much of a pussy for my thickass mascara kind...

3timesalady · 10/02/2011 12:42

watching this thread with interest as I use Simple & it's not handling my Bobbi Brown longwear at all....

laosvher · 10/02/2011 12:49

I use Garniers eye make up remover.
It's been excellent so far, and very cheap

voiceofnoreason · 10/02/2011 14:24

Clarins - forgot the name - comes in a big bottle with two liquids - it needs a good shake. I found clinique burned my eyelids. Seriously - I ended up in Moorfields

Invisiblesoul · 10/02/2011 14:46

Clarins instant eye make up remover. Makes your eyelashes grow aswell. Or lancome bi phase

FluffyMummy123 · 10/02/2011 14:57

bifacil lancome

FluffyMummy123 · 10/02/2011 14:57

is it renamed now?
marks do a cheaper version - is ok if you are on an econ drive

crazybutterflylady · 10/02/2011 15:37

that's the one cod Wink

I tried the Bourjois cheaper version (bourjois being made by the people who make chanel, dontyouknow) but it's far too oily and the packaging is crap - the clip-fasten lid has fallen off already, 3 days in.

i'm a Kanebo addict. I've never found a remover to get it off completely but the best i've found is No7's. I soak my eyes in a pad of hot water..then try the remover..later try the hot water again..and only gentle pressure. It can take quite a while to get off! but worth it. I only reapply every few days

lololizzy · 10/02/2011 17:10

oh and then follow up with a steaming hot cloth to get the last stubborn bits!

lololizzy · 10/02/2011 17:24

The thing about Kanebo 38 is..it's not meant to be used with a makeup remover. A combination of hot water and gentle pressure only. I only use the remover as i wear eyeliner most days. I'm probably fooling myself if i think it ever helps with Kanebo mascara!

Lulie110 · 10/02/2011 19:10

A 2nd vote for the Body Shop camomile eye makeup remover - the liquid, not the gel. First used it a very long time ago; every time I try to swap for something a bit more luxurious I am disappointed. for over 10 years it has been the only thing I buy from the Body Shop.

But agree, it'd do nothing for the Kanebo 38 degree. A muslin or flannel, dipped in hot water then wrong out, hold over eye area for 5 secs then wipe off mascara. Repeat until it's all gone.

littlemissindecisive · 10/02/2011 19:14

Clarins or Neals Yard Remedies...nothing beats them

bibbitybobbityhat · 10/02/2011 19:16

Bodyshop. It is an extremely gentle non-oily liquid, that even my very sensitive skin can tolerate. Have been using it for more than 20 years.

blossoming · 10/02/2011 19:19

I swear by Lancome bifacil too. I've been using it for years, and it shifts waterproof mascara straight away. Won the best eye make up remover in the In Style beauty awards, again. (Out with the March magazine).

MrsSeanBean · 10/02/2011 19:40

Vichy (in blue bottle - from Boots) is best I've ever used.

Emo76 · 10/02/2011 19:42

Body Shop camomile here too

PlumSykes · 10/02/2011 20:38

The Body Shop one is great, and also rate the blue Lancome one, but I use Eve Lom Cleanser to get off all make-up off in one go. Is the best. cleanser. ever.

lololizzy · 10/02/2011 21:18

Re Kanebo..it's not layers you can wear down like other mascaras...it tubes the lashes..and these don't seem to break down , it's not like, say, rubbing away at paint on a wall and the emulsion gets thinner. It slides off in tubes from the roots..but not easily..but that's why i buy it!

PukeyMummy · 10/02/2011 22:06

I normally find Simple does the trick, but also vote for Lancome Bifacil if that's not doing it for you!

bibbitybobbityhat · 10/02/2011 22:11

PlumSykes: how come you can get away with using someone else's name as your user name? How does that work then?
