Please point me in the direction of your most recent & exciting finds. I've an unhealthy obsession with them and would like a couple more to add to my rather paltry collection (GAP navy & cream boatneck / Topshop oversize t-shirt). I think I'd possibly like to branch out from navy to red too - or even some other colours. Keeeerrrazzzy I know! Grin

Also, how do you style yours? I tend to wear my boatneck with a cream tank underneath and with slightly loose-fitting skinny jeans and cream converse, and the t-shirt with boyfriend chinos and a navy boyfriend cardi over the top. Again, need more ideas as ideally I'd be in stripes everyday.

Thanks stylish ladies. Smile

My best breton buy has been from H & M. They did a selection of either white with navy stripe, camel with red and slate grey with white. They are gorgeous. Very well made, with 3 button detail at the wrist.

I bought the white with navy (and now wish I had bought all 3). I wear loose with coloured skinny jeans (red & pink), grey skinny trousers. With my boyfriend fit khakis, I tuck it in.

I saw a blue and brown one in Coast yesterday.
A great twist, I thought.
Could work with any number of different bottoms...

Can't speak for the quality as I've never bought anyhting from there before and was on my way to a meeting and didn't wnat to turn up with shopping bags so didn't buy.

Gillybobs · 10/02/2011 10:19

Im currently wearing mine with a floral scarf. My sister inspired me to try it and it really works. Just choose a scarf with the same colours as your breton and the clash of floral/stripes looks v modern I reckon

monkeysmama · 10/02/2011 10:43

The New Look ones in atm are very good. My favourite is from Zara. I wear mine with jeans, fitted harems, skinny cargos and my vast array of animal print scarves. This bella donna wears lots of Breton style tops if you want styling tips. (Nb if you're new to WIT avoid reading her on a Wednesday - mildly offensive drivel)

TobyLerone · 10/02/2011 10:46

I bought a really nice red one in Tesco of all places, for a bargainous £8. I wore it to work yesterday, with a black mini, black opaques and bright red heels, and accessorised with a long silver necklace with a pirate ship pendant, for extra nautical goodness.

Pinkjenny · 10/02/2011 10:47

Mine is from H&M.

Pinkjenny · 10/02/2011 10:47

And in answer to the other question, generally I style mine in an exceptionally dull way with black skinnies.

dottyaboutstripes · 10/02/2011 10:53

I just bought a Lands End one, it's pretty nice. I'm wearing it right now with a denim mini and wooly tights

here

fishie · 10/02/2011 10:59

We are meant to be going for wider stripes this year. there's a stripy spread in today's metro, but I can't find it on their site.

I've got a lovely tunic/dress from m&s last year, have a look there.

and i've just bought myself this mango from John Lewis, much nicer in rl. See also stripy links on same page.

bambiandthumper · 10/02/2011 11:19

I have this which I LOVE

Otherwise these are the originals and the best

noddyholder · 10/02/2011 11:26

this is not strictly breton but I saw it the other day and it is lovely in both colours and is a really nice material for the
price

MarshaBrady · 10/02/2011 11:29

This Breton dress was linked on another thread. It is a really nice one.

fishie · 10/02/2011 11:36

m&s dresses:
i tried this on maxi and the fabric is lovely, really weighty but it was just too much material. if only it came in this length shorter the fabric not half as nice on this one.

i have not been issued with a waist so didn't try this one elegant looked great on mannequin.

dottyaboutstripes · 10/02/2011 11:37

I have a Saint James one and have found it v disappointing, it went out of shape when I washed it Confused

tulpe · 10/02/2011 11:40

Yes yes to florals and stripes.

My favourite spring look last year was slate grey & white Breton top with slate & pink floral scarf and skinny cargos. Really works well.

fishie · 10/02/2011 12:03

yes agree floral and stripe. but i think not actually both printed on the garment. that's a bit 2009.

bambiandthumper · 10/02/2011 12:57

I'm really surprised by that dottyaboutstripes, I have two, one from years ago and one from last year and they have both held their shape fine, the only thing to do is order up a size or two as they are very fitted if you get if your true size, but it all depends on preference.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 10/02/2011 18:04

Is this how not to do 'Breton'?!

Meggles76 · 10/02/2011 19:02

I love a good breton! I have a fitted one from Jigsaw which is white with navy stripes. I tend to wear it under short sleeve tops and tunics

I have a the Lands End one that some mentioned on this thread. I wear it with skinny jeans or denim skirt.

I have also just ordered one from M&S that is beige stripes that I will be wearing with my skinny flare jeans

AintMissBeehiving · 10/02/2011 19:28

I have this one from Armor Lux which is good quality but then it should be for the price

dairymoo · 10/02/2011 21:51

Woweee, thanks for all the links and style suggestions! Loving the floral scarf with stripes suggestion especially. And the jumper that bambiandthumper linked to is lush.
