Dress for 16yo girl - ds2 wants to buy his gf one - HELP!

Right ladies - I have 2 boys so I'm hopeless! Ds2 very sweetly wants to buy gf a dress and has asked my advice. She's 5'3" and has a nice normal curvy figure - not skinny. He only has about £25 to spend. Any ideas? Thanks Smile

Oh what a sweetie!

Maybe worth looking in New Look?

scurryfunge · 08/02/2011 21:36

Any particular occasion?

Is it a day dress?
A going out dress?
What is her style?

BelligerentGhoul · 08/02/2011 21:37

[[http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/dresses/floral-tea-dress_214459349 cute tea dress]
To be worn with thick tights and biker boots!

iheartdusty · 08/02/2011 21:37

ummm....might it be better for her to choose it? Smile

what if he offers to treat her and takes her out, after telling her the budget?

it could all go so badly wrong if he gets the size wrong, don't you think?

BelligerentGhoul · 08/02/2011 21:37

darn try again

LynetteScavo · 08/02/2011 21:37

That's really sweet.

I think dresses are quite a personal thing, though. I think he should give her the money/a voucher and go shopping with her. Without getting bored.

Warning; she will probably decide to marry him.

VerityBrulee · 08/02/2011 21:37

Well you've obviously done a great job raising him, what a lovely boy Smile I was going to suggest New Look too. I hope she appreciates him!

fortyplus · 08/02/2011 21:50

Gosh - thanks, ladies! He knows she's a 10 as she's already bought her prom dress. This one would be for parties at friends' houses or going out for a meal or something like that.

He likes the New Look one.

She's quite feminine but also a tom boy if that makes sense? Sporty, arty, musical and good fun. I think she's great.

I went round to collect him the other evening and she was lounging about wearing a cow suit from Primark! Grin

Ps he baked some cakes yesterday to take to school for her and his friends - chocolate brownie cup cakes - but he did let me have one first! Grin

He's quite the new man Wink

i think they sound like a lovely couple! Smile

fortyplus · 10/02/2011 01:35

Awww thank you for the lovely comments, everyone! He's such a sweetie if I say so myself! He does have his moments but if he strops off and stomps upstairs slamming doors and muttering then you can bet that half an hour later he'll be back down to give me a hug and say sorry for being horrid. I always tell him he's not half as horrid as I was at his age! Grin
