strapless dress, self concious

I'm off to Leeds this weekend and I have strapless dress to wear, like a floaty one not to fitted.

thing is i tried it on with strapless bra (anyone else think strapless bras are crap for definition) and I'm a bit self concious I'm big and I'm worried I'll get comment.glares,laughing etc IYKWIM.

my arms are messed up from having my DC, would wearing like a skintone vest look too daft. I dont wanna be defeated and not wear it lol!

any tips from anyone who's been in this sit

Sure your confidence is far worse than your dress, it sounds fine to me

Could you wear a shrug or mid sleeved cardi with it? Not sure about the vest, I'd have to see what the dress looked like to comment on that.

As a bra obsessive- all strapless bras are not crap, but they do need to be fitted properly. Most women wear their bras too big in the back and too small in the cup so the same size in a strapless is doomed to failure!

Can I add my vote for what marriednotdead said.

In my larger days I would wear a basque under a strapless dress for a bit more support.

The last strapless thing I wore, I had a wide chiffon-y type scarf worn around my shoulders and knotted in front at bust level - you could still see my upper arms and shoulders through it, it just softened the effect a bit.

Wear a normal bra with straps in a wildly contrasting colour and a shrug.

You need this bra. It's absolutely brilliant!

Yep! I got that bra and it works!

And a bit of fake tan to take the glare of winter-white skin :)
