DH is off to Singapore next week. What should I be asking him to buy for me out there???

I know that electronics are cheaper out there but would appreciate suggestions more in keeping with S&B.

TIA

If either of you suffer from bad backs/joint pain of any kind, then Tiger Balm. You can get it in lots of guises over there. The stick-on heat packs are fab.

Clothes tend to be in much smaller sizes over there. I bought a couple of Chinese-style jackets from a market in Chinatown but had to get something like XXXL to fit me (am size 10/12 on top half).

If you like Lola Rose-style jewellery, large jade pendants and the like, you can buy that style of stuff very cheaply in the Chinatown markets. Wish I'd bought more on last trip as people always think they cost a fortune when I wear them and they were a few quid at most.

RE beauty, am racking my brains to come up with some lovely Singaporean brands that you'd not want to miss out on... but drawing a bit of a blank!
There's a HUUGE newish Sephora there that is great for a rummage (for your husband?!).
Talika has interesting stuff, eg brow and lash gels etc, quite hard to find over here.
Or, you could get him to stock up on Asian brands that are not specific to SIng, but would be cheaper over there, eg Shu Uemura (have you got the lash curlers??), SK-II.

Ooh yes I was thinking about beauty brands.

I haven't got the lash curlers so will ask him to get me some along with some false eyelashes to from Shu Uemura.

Not sure he'll be up for a beauty extravaganza in Sephora that will have to wait for our next trip to the US.

Lulie110, Shu Uemera is a good call...I bought lots of stuff from them on my trips there. Good thinking.

Planes
Singapore is not the place for shopping these days. Everything is more expensive that the UK and the customer service is poor. Your DH will be extremely stressed if he's sent on a shopping mission there. Nightmare stuff.

wot beautyspot said (I live in Singapore) - definitely not cheaper than UK
Only thing I can think of is to go to Chinatown market stalls and get a silk dressing gown.

planestrainsautomobiles · 07/02/2011 16:03

Damn - thats a shame! We haven't been there for a good 5 years or so I thought you could still get some bargains.

Stressful shopping missions are not a good idea for my DH!!!

Maybe I'll get some perfume from DF instead Wink

Thanks for all your replies!
