We have decided, for a number of reasons, to have a very quiet registry office wedding next month with a proper wedding / vow renewal next year in the way that I want to do it. So....looking for some serious help on what to wear to the registry office do. We are looking at the ceremony purely as a means to an end with the real celebration next year but I'd still like to wear something nice. Can anyone help with some suggestions? I'm doing a personal shopper session next week and would like to go with some ideas in hand. TIA.

When we were getting our marriage license a couple were getting married. She was wearing a very nice cotton dress, heels and a jacket. I thought she looked lovely. Her dress was cream, her jacket navy and her bag was a beautiful leather 'rosebud' clutch in red which matched her shoes.

WHat sort of shape and size are you, waterbaby? And what sort of budget?

waterbabyabroad · 04/02/2011 19:20

That does sound nice. DP has suggested a suit of some sort but I thought I'd want something a bit more feminine. Something like you've described sounds like a possibility.

Oh, and budget. I don't think I want to spend more than 200 quid.

sorry waterbabyabroad that wasn't terribly helpful was it?

PlumSykes · 04/02/2011 20:13

Saw this in John Lewis during the week. Looks lovely with matching jacket.

All comments and ideas helpful, don't worry! I've looked at the Coast dresses - love the Analee dress as well. I'm not usually a dress person so this is going to be really hard...

like this

too girly ?

pretty colour

too bridal ?

Do you want white/cream ?

waterbabyabroad · 04/02/2011 21:25

Thanks Tillyscoutsmum. The JL dresses are lovely. Especially like the purple dress so I might give that a try. I'm debating the white/cream thing. It feels like I should be wearing a dress that colour. Do you think it matters?

Personally - no I don't (see my wedding pics on profile Grin). I think wear whatever colour you like

waterbabyabroad · 04/02/2011 21:31

Lovely photos and your daughters are gorgeous. Where did you get their dresses?

Thank you Smile

I got them online from a US company. I think they worked out around £30 each. Unfortunately, I have a new laptop (thanks to destructive DS !) and don't have the website in my favourites any more. I'll have a google and see if I can find it
