Shopping at Westfield

Not strictly S&B but...... I'm going shopping tomorrow, and will probably need a drink afterwards.
Is there anywhere nice to go for a sit down (I am old) drink in the vicinty - will go as far as High St Ken, Notting Hill, Holland Park?

I used to live there but drank in places like the Redback at the time!

how about Julies on Portland Road / Place? (off Holland Park Avenue).

The Halcyon Hotel would have been perfect but not there anymore - used to be on Holland Park Avenue - loved that place Sad

though there are also a ton of places at Westfield to eat / drink too.

I don't go out that much anymore so wanted something a bit more special than staying at Westfield before going on to eat afterwards.

Julies seems perfect for late afternoon and walkable too.CheersWine

There are loads and loads of really lovely restarants at Westfield - go to the South Terrace. Honestly, it doesn't feel like eating in a shopping centre!

Or walk up Wood Lane towards Shep Bush Green and go to Albertines on right hand side - cute little wine bar.

The last time I was at westfield my sister and I spent lunch time at the Lanson champagne bar. Not terribly shopping centre-y

missfairlie · 05/02/2011 15:44

I agree that Westfield has plenty of decent places (though the food can be variable there) - the champagne bar really is quite fun and in the nice bit.

In my view Julie's is appalling - totally trades on its reputation. You will walk for 10-15 min and have a massive disappointment. I had a disgusting meal there and have never been back and have known many other locals to complain! If you are determined to get away, there's a gastropub called the Academy on the corner of Penzance and Princedale Road that is very nice; it was my local - lovely food. The Castle on HP Ave always had a nice buzzy vibe as well. There are some nice places further into Notting Hill but quite a long way and uphill which may not be the ticket after a day shopping.

just stay there! i cant think of anywhere nice and local, and I actually go there just for lunch

moragbellingham · 06/02/2011 07:52

Well, we didn't make it anywhere for drinks after too much shopping!
Just had lunch there at the Real Greek and then went on for dinner. We've decided to do it again very soon and will have to try the other suggestions nowGrin.
