I know I'm going to look a complete twat but what is a waterfall cardigan and what is a boyfriend cardigan?

I am told that boyfriend cardigans are ones that are long and a bit oversized, and cut in a more masculine style, ie, how it would look if you borrowed your boyfriend's cardigan. However, looking at the sort of things that get called 'boyfriend cardigan', I think the description has become a little vague.

Waterfall have ruffles on the front and are usually long, very Pat Butcher.

Boyfriend cardi's are just long & plain and utterly boring and shapeless. Worn by uber aspirational trendies with raybans normally.

That's a bit harsh MADAM - My waterfall cardi hides my flabby tum and I'm nothing like Pat Butcher!
