Personally i like it long layered and thick. . .in other words.. . . a bit like an Eton Flop. . .or wedge. . .the latest thing with lots of fringe.

And you ?????

My pet hate is the No 1 job , , really really short and spikey or worse still a crew cut. . .Shock

Ds1 - short back and sides, ds2 floppy curly mop.

peanutsmuggler · 01/02/2011 16:12

I don't have much choice with DS, his hair is very thick and very coarse it grows straight out on end but in different directions. It looks terrible unless it's cut fairly short.

He has a grade 1 or 2 round the sides and a 2 or 3 on top. He never looks really baldy though because his hair is so thick and dark.

McDreamy · 01/02/2011 16:12

Short but not too short/severe

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 01/02/2011 16:14

Agree with Eton Flop.

Also agree re No.1. :)

CMOTdibbler · 01/02/2011 16:15

The barber ds goes to has baby boy/little boy/bigger boy cuts. No choice !

StarlightPrincess · 01/02/2011 16:16

I've never cut my sons hair into a style, we just trim the split ends. It's shoulder length blonde curls!

Hate the skinhead look on little boys, it's horrible!

3yr old ds is sporting the boden sufrer look at the moment.

also hate the no1 cut, far too severe on little boys and brings to mind thuggish skinheads.

KikiJane · 01/02/2011 16:25

My son is sporting the 'if Justin Bieber had been a Beatle' at the moment.

It used to be shoulder-length and I adored it, but he got tired of being accused of being a girl in shops and restaurants. He's very pretty! Also he's going to grammar school this year and they don't allow long hair.

anonymosity · 01/02/2011 17:42

Big and fluffy and swept to the side at the front, like a surfer - or short-ish (not extreme) to show off his dimples.

bambiandthumper · 01/02/2011 18:12

DTS has the flop which does look adorable on him

I'd be happy for DS to have any other style than he has had for years - with poker straight hair and a double crown he has to have it number 4 all over Sad

Have had to make up for it with DD with hair right down her back and lots of bobbles and clips

Ragwort · 01/02/2011 22:56

Short back and sides, very old fashioned.

DH has just given him a very short hair cut (think skin head for those of you who are old enough Grin) - it looks awful but will grow out soon.

Really hate long hair on boys.

Carrotsandcelery · 01/02/2011 23:01

Longish, layered and messy - not a fan of the very short on my wee boy. His hair is so blonde/pale you can't see it if it is.

CointreauVersial · 01/02/2011 23:26

DS has a long curly mop, every now and then we take him to the barbers to be "clipped".

Sometimes he gets bored and has it all taken off, very short, but then grows it all back again.

With his curls it looks good either long or very short, but not so good in between.

hattymattie · 02/02/2011 07:06

Shot back and sides - can't bear it when little boys look like girls! (he's 8). Can somebody post a picture of Eton flop for when he's older and I can show it to French uncomprehending hairdresser.

Merci.

FreudianSlippery · 02/02/2011 07:21

Ooh I was wondering about this. DS is 17m and has never had a haircut. I call his 'style' 'middle class hair' Blush :o so I'm guessing that it's what you refer to as the Eton Flop! It's all curly at the ends and is completely adorable.

However it is starting to get a little too long now. I don't like boys' hair to be so long it can go in a ponytail, personally. I think I need to trim it a little :(

Meggles76 · 02/02/2011 08:34

Going to go against the trend here and say that I can't stand long hair on boys over the age of 2 1/2.

DS is nearly 8 and a very good swimmer. he has 1.5 back and sides and then cut short on top with scissors - sometimes he has a slight 'fin' down the middle.

Personally I feel he is too young to 'style' his hair and this cut means he can just roll out of bed and go and look tidy.

JustAnother · 02/02/2011 08:45

I also don't like long hair in little boys. They remind me of the angels in church paintings, and I just don't like that. My DS has it fairly short, about number 4 on the sides and a bit longer on the top. It has to be a simple cut for him, and I don't think he's old enough to bother about styling.

maltesers · 02/02/2011 09:00

Skin head haircut. . .looks like they have just come out of a wartime prison camp. . . .so awful.
As for the Eton Flop HATTIEMATTIE I am not sure how to post a picture on here, but if you google Anthony Way (Adorable young chap - The Chorister) , you will see the hair style like the one my son has. (Except my Ds has dark and slightly more wavy hair)

The thing is different hairstyles suit different children. I think the floppy surfer style hair is gorgeous on little boys who have the right hair for it.

With my boys coarse hair it would look bloody awful though, his very short hair suits him much better and means he doesn't have to have loads of styling products on it.

Chandon · 02/02/2011 09:56

My oldest has soft blond straight hair which comb in a side parting (poor child!Blush, last holiday an elderly french lady said he looked like "Le petit prince". Cute, but I guess I am not doing him a favour and need to find something cooler...

My other DS has mad hair that stands up in peaks and weird angles (he has 3 crowns and part of his hair is curly, part straight, and it's two colours as well.) People ask me what I DO to him. did I dip his head into bleach on one side?! Did I cut his hair with the light off?! But NO cut suits him apart from No.1, which DH objects to as he says he looks like a mini hooligan that way.
