curly girl method for a toddler?

Can anyone with curly hair help?

DD1 is 2.9 and has blonde corkscrew curls - if you've ever seen a picture of Jordan's daughter it's exactly the same (v annoying actually as most weeks at least one person will point to her in the street and say 'ahh, just like Princess..', and I fecking hate Jordan!)

I usually wet it down in the morning, brush it with a tangle teezer and put some leave in conditioner in. But it's been getting a bit wild and unmanageable lately. I was chatting to a woman with curly hair at a toddler group and she said she never used shampoo on her hair, just conditioner and told me to google the 'curly girl method'?!

Well I have and now I'm a bit confused! What sort of conditioner should I use? For kids or is an adult one ok? Do you really never, ever wash it?

I use just conditioner on DS1 who has long, curly hair.

Mainly because he needs conditioner but would not tollerate two lots of stuff going in/being washed out.

I just use conditioner as you would shampoo-it does the same job really.

I brush while it's wet with the conditioner on, rinse, and that's it.

I never brush it dry.

DD sometimes brushes his hair dry to be mean and it goes ridiculously big and fluffy.Smile

I've just started following the curly girl method on my 2.5 yr old DD's hair, her hair looks loads better already.

I use the new tresemme naturals conditioner which is silicone free and just use like a shampoo then rinse, then I run another pea sized amount through her hair and leave it in.

Before you start use a shampoo with sulphates in to get rid of any silicones that may be left in the hair.

my DD has the same hair,i use my stuff as my hair is curly as hell! It does the job really

thanks, I'll give the tresemme naturals a try, peanutsmuggler.

Queen, Ivette, what stuff do you use? I need names of products that actually work! I got some rather expensive Original Sprout curl tamer and it wasn't any better than the Johnsons tangle tamer stuff Confused

Roll on the summer - when it dries quickly in the sun it looks gorgeous Smile

I've stopped using loads of products and just leave a tiny bit of conditioner in her hair when washed and then have a spray bottle with water and a blob of conditioner in to spray her hair with each morning to revive the curls.

I sometimes use pure coconut oil as well just to add a bit of moisture.
