Please help me with footwear

I am awful at clothes and shoes. Particularly shoes. I have squillions of tatty fallen apart ones I don't wear, and some ridiculous ones I only wear on special occasions and then the ones that I wear every day until they fall apart.

I need some new every day shoes. My current shoe shopping technique is to wait until my shoes are completely tramp-like, then go into town and look at other people's feet on the way to the shoe shop. And then buy something which ends up impractical or grim.

I am currently on maternity leave until the autumn. Most days I wear jeans and a polo neck or fleece top or a stretchy-type top. I do the school run to a rural school and it can be a bit muddy wear I park the car. Not deep mud, but not ideal to wear velvet ballet pumps in January type mud. I wear casual wear most days. I need some footwear advice on everyday shoes - possibly one pair for rainy and one for dry. Please help me, oh style and beauty gurus.

I'd buy boots for the next few months these are nice and not too spendy then some nice plimsoles for spring like these

A nice pair of ballet flats would also come in handy and go with loads of things
