OK I've finally come around to skinny jeans with boots but what about in spring/summer?

What shoes/sandals work with skinnies?

I am tall and slim but have big feet and can't wear ballerinas (because of bunion), so are skinnies an option or should I revert to bootleg (which I still wear as find flattering) or my usual wide-leg linen trousers in summer?

I'm mid-thirties.

Just booked a holiday, can you tell I'm thinking far in advance about holiday wardrobe?

flip-flops

marriednotdead · 28/01/2011 23:19

Another one with the same dilemma.

Am thinking of sticking to bootleg or some of those skinny flares as I need to wear Birkies.

Have long skinny legs, size 6 feet and a desire not to look like Max Wall.

FaffTastic · 28/01/2011 23:20

Gladiators. Peep toes wedges (rather than strappy wedges).

Ballet pumps

partyhats · 29/01/2011 12:20

what about brougues?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 29/01/2011 12:26

I think these suede loafers are cute - a bit more forgiving than ballet flats (although I like ballets myself).

Gillybobs · 29/01/2011 13:15

Have you tried a straight leg rather than a skinny jean? Said it before on other threads but Gap "Real Straight" are fantastic, lovely slim leg but not as tight fitting as skinnies so you are much less likely to get the Max Wall effect : )

here they are

Cyb · 29/01/2011 13:20

you should wear tapered, cropped trousers and a wedge

Or a high top converse to avid golf club foot syndrome

traceybath · 29/01/2011 15:33

Well last summer I rolled my skinnies up and wore with swedish hasbeens - am planning on doing similar this summer.

FluffyMummy123 · 29/01/2011 16:02

cant you wear shoes that cover teje bunion bit

AnyFucker · 29/01/2011 16:04

I don't wear skinnies in warm weather at all, tbh

MadameCastafiore · 29/01/2011 16:05

I wera galdiators, pumps or boden flat lace ups - I have size 7 feet and think I will always look a bit like a golf club in skinnies - but hey most people would love to look ike a golf club and have long skinny legs.

CuppaTeaJanice · 29/01/2011 16:20

70s style flares are supposed to be in fashion this year!! Grin

Don't wear pumps with skinnies though - it makes your arse look enormous, even if you are size zero. The proportions are not very flattering.

naturelover · 29/01/2011 16:29

Thanks for all your responses, food for thought.

I wish I could wear ballet pumps, I really do, I think they look elegant, but bunions really make it impossible.

I like the idea of wearing straight leg jeans as a compromise between skinnies and bootleg, but worried they'll look unfeminine.

I think for sandals I can find something decent (when it's not too hot for jeans!) but the difficulty will be spring when it's too cold for sandals yet... hmmmm.

I worry that converse and skinnies will make me look too studenty, and I'm twice as old as students!

Shoes that cover the bunion in my case tend to be trainers. I really need an op but kids are too young for me to do it now tbh. Youngest is barely walking!

I dont think the Gap straight legs look unfeminine at all!

Instead of converse I wear boden lace ups with my straight legs, less studenty I reckon

Are pumps different to ballet flats Confused [fashion ignoramus]
