Any experts on Lancome foundations

Fancy a change perhaps.

Lancome foundations? I need a very pale shade and medium coverage- nothing too light and dewy.

My skin is "normal"- not dry or oily, but is mature but unlined.

I trust MN rather than the sales assistants to give me the low down.

Ive used their Tein Idole which is their long lasting foundation. Id say its medium coverage and fairly matt, no need for powder. It lasts really well and is a really good everyday foundation.

Dont think it would be great on very dry skin as its not terribly moisturising (you need to work quickly when appplying it). The shade 01 is v pale.

I think its a really good quality foundation

I too am pale and use Lancome foundations. Currently using Teint Miracle in 02. It is medium coverage but on the dewy moisturising side, not matt finish. Agree good quality stuff. Good range of colours too.

Years ago- 30!- I used to use their Maquimat Satin and it was lovely.

I am now using Clinique Repair Wear which is nice- may even stick with it- but sometimes it looks just a tiny bit too dark for my skin, even in the palest shade. It i s matte, but very light too. it is however full coverage and I am finding that samples of other foundations- such as all the Bobbi Brown ones- seem too sheer in comparison, and they also have a bit too much shine. I don't have oily skin but anything dewy seems to slide off without powder, adn I don't like powder.

Cabbage you might like the Lancome Teint Idole, its light in texture and feel but ggives realy good coverage and you def dont need powder with it.

Havingkittens · 28/01/2011 18:50

I'm a big fan of Teint Idole Ultra too. Photogenic is also nice but not as matte. Love Teint Miracle though, that's my current favorite Lancome foundation - not quite as heavy as the Teint Idole.

FluffyMummy123 · 28/01/2011 18:51

you want diorskin nude

or vitaliiere

cabbageroses · 28/01/2011 19:28

Thanks Mns.

Diorskin nude feels like a tinted moisturiser in comparison with my current one.

can't do Chanel- had testers and they are all much too dark.

Is Teint Idole not the one that stays for 18 hrs? will have a look at website. BTW they have 15% off for online orders- not sure how much P&P is though.

vitalumiere will be too dewy but they have brought out a new version that is less dewy. i think they have diff colours also so might be worth checking out.

By Terry has fab foundations but v pricey.

cabbageroses · 28/01/2011 19:47

I looked at By Terry and it seemed so similar to the Clinique I use- almost the same texture. In fact it seemd heavier. you can tell I am being fussy.

I have just recently bought Teint Miracle I use 010 which is the palest shade. I also bought the Lancome Pro Base primer.

I really really like it, it is a light coverage and looks very natural but still enough to cover my red cheeks/nose.

I liked the Dior nudeskin which everyone on here raves about but the coverage was just a smidge lighter than the Lancome and IMO didn't last as well.

The primer is amazing, I used smashbox before but much prefer this.

QueenLaQueefer · 28/01/2011 20:22

I find the Tiente Idol super heavy, but do try a tester as it is just as described here.
I use it to cover my Kerotis Pilaris & v.veins in the summer. It's that thick.

Havingkittens · 28/01/2011 20:35

Teint Idole is quite heavy, but is the one that lasts for 14 hours. Sometimes looks a bit heavy on more mature skin. Teint Miracle is more forgiving but still has good coverage. Some counters only go as light as 01 but there is a shade 010 which is paler but not as widely available.

I can't wear Vitalumiere as it's too dark for me and I wear 02 in Lancome foundations. BTW 02 isn't necessarily darker than 01, 01 is more yellow based and 02 is more pinky.

cabbageroses · 28/01/2011 21:16

thanks HK- that's very useful.
I will check them out. Teint Miracle sounds more like what I am after.

I dont agree about Teint Idole being heavy at all, I put it on with a brush, working quickly, I find this gives a lighter touch. It gives good coverage and stays put but probably not for 18 hrs!

FunnysInTheGarden · 28/01/2011 21:54

hmmm, I have always found Lancome too thick, although I love their other makeup. The best one for me is Chanel Sunlit. Gives a nice sheen and is not too thick or thin. Smells lovely too. I am typically white verging on pale european type skin.

MadMissy · 29/01/2011 08:50

I too was a maquimat fan! Bring it back I say, none of the others worked as well for me.
I'm a mac girl.

Have you tried laura mercier? Another good make and tinted moisturiser is fab

jamaisjedors · 29/01/2011 13:10

I have Teint Miracle, got talked into it when they were out of Vitalumière in Printemps.

I hate it, especially for daytime (and harsh winter sunlight).

I think it accentuates my dry skin and wrinkles.

It looks ok in the evening though.

Actually i'd be prepared to give it away (ffp) if anyone's interested after that hard sell Grin

cabbageroses · 29/01/2011 14:23

what shade is it JJ?

OP posts:
jamaisjedors · 29/01/2011 14:52

jamaisjedors · 29/01/2011 14:54

brimfull · 29/01/2011 15:01

I have tried tient idol and diorskin nude and prefer the diorskin nude
I would also recoommend this primer

have had compliments when wearing it
need very llittle foundation when using it

Celery · 29/01/2011 15:33

Also tried Lancome Teint Miracle and Diorskin Nude, and much prefer Dior. I don't think I will ever use another foundation again.
