I am visitng London at the end of Feb and have one free shopping afternoon. I thought Regent Street was boring full of too many shops I knew when I was there in the Summer. Where can I go for decent clothes at reasonable prices. I am a bit of a Bodenite [embarassed]. What are your top ten London clothes shops and I will visit them all unless my planes delayed and then I am scuppered!!

Marylebone High St is good. Also Liberty's - in fact, Regent St a much better bet than Oxford St (except for Selfridges) IMO. King's Road a possibility.

There was a long thread about this a few months ago, but don't think I'm clever enough to find it...

polyhymnia · 27/01/2011 14:36

PS if you're a Bodenite, you'll probably like the White Co. shop in Marylebone High St - and perhaps the French Sole just off the High St.

Francagoestohollywood · 27/01/2011 14:42

I'd happily spend an entire morning in Liberty, where pretty much everything is just beautiful. Sadly, it is also incredibly expensive.

So, I'd recommend Anthropologie.
I also enjoy a stroll in Marylebone HIgh Street (expensive though)

bestmamaderwelt · 27/01/2011 14:54

Carnaby Street. Yes you will have to edure the hecticness of Oxford street on the way but it is so woth it. Fab clothes shop American apperal etc and good places to eat. And libety

bestmamaderwelt · 27/01/2011 14:55

Liberty*

orangina · 27/01/2011 14:57

If you really want all sorts of shopping, you could go to Westfield.....

madammecholet · 27/01/2011 15:44

Massimo Dutti, 3 shops around London. Posh version of Zara.

faustina · 27/01/2011 15:48

Cos - just round the corner from Liberty

whoneedssleepanyway · 27/01/2011 16:01

Kings road.

To be honest I like shopping in less central areas, faves are Wimbledon Village and Richmond.

Emo76 · 27/01/2011 16:24

Selfridges - plenty of different brands under one roof. Also it is close to a huge GAP and French Connection and not far from Marylebone High St which is also nice.

moragbellingham · 27/01/2011 16:43

I like walking along the roads parallel to Oxford St.
e.g. Brook St, then up South Molton St up to House of Fraser and through it and up the back to Marylebone.
John Lewis will prob have some stuff you'll like as they have a few new bits in like mini concessions (a couple of racks).

Anthropologie has/used to have a little room of sale things in the basement too.

Blu · 27/01/2011 16:46

COS is excellent - unusual clothing at v good prices. One on the corner of Regent St v close to liberty, one on Long Acre on the edge of Covent Garden.

St Christopher's Place and then up to marylebone High St.

Parsgirl · 27/01/2011 18:19

Thanks for that am going to plan my afternoon round these recommendations so I get optimum shopping time. What time do most places close on a Thursday?

Think it's eight Parsgirl.

polyhymnia · 27/01/2011 18:28

8.00 - or even, in the case of Selfridges at least, and M and S Marble Arch - 9.00.

Deaddei · 27/01/2011 19:42

Whoneedssleepanyway- my fave places too.

FaffTastic · 27/01/2011 20:06

Selfridges
Liberty
Kings Court (off Carnaby Street, near back entrance of Libertys)
Cos
Banana Republic (you might like it if you're a Bodenite)

All the above are within a stone throw of each other
