Hi
I've recently moved to Edinburgh and looking for a good hairdresser who's good at colouring.
I live in Bruntsfield and there are so many so want to make sure I find a good one.
Thanks

Any of the Charlie Miller salons in the City are good. I go to South St Andrews Street and have done for many years.

Cheynes has a good reputation too.

Don't know about any others.

Bryan Drumm on George St (I loved being told that my hairdresser wasn't available as she was doing London/New York/Paris fashion weeks Blush; she wins prizes; she's lovely).

Indigo in Bruntsfield - John is fantastic

Paterson SA. I go to the Lothian Road salon. My stylist is Alana. She is the only hairdresser I've been to that actually listens to what I say and gives me a cut I want.

Cascal in Harvey Nicols Is really good, been very pleased each time.

Charlie Miller has a newish branch next to the Tesco and Starbucks at Holy Corner. I've been going to the Stafford Street branch on and off for 20 years. I had a Saturday job at Brian Drumm when I was 15.

don't go to Cheynes, they used to be good but are ghastly now. for that money i want better service and a good hair cut.

find someone with nice hair and use their hairdresser

scotsgirl23 · 26/01/2011 13:45

Would also dodge Cheynes - they used to be good but seem to have gone downhill. I'm still looking for one too - has anyone tried Neil Barton - has won lots of awards?

livvyliv · 26/01/2011 16:18

Thanks for those.I'll have a look at them.Really need to get my colour done

Agree with the comments about Charlie Miller (being good) and Cheynes (the one I tried wasn't great) - although it is a year since I lived in Edinburgh!

SpawnChorus · 26/01/2011 18:07

Oh I'm surprised at te comments about Cheynes...it's one of the few places that seems to consistently give me a good haircut! (My hair is cropped, if that's relevant).

nevergoogledragonbutter · 26/01/2011 18:08

Charlie Millers.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 26/01/2011 18:08

I think the one i go to is the south st andrews street one.

muddlinleigh · 27/01/2011 12:14

One of my colleagues goes to Neil Barton and she has lovely hair.

Livvyliv I'm another Bruntsfield resident (waves!). I have been to: Panache on Morningside Road, Cheynes on Lothian Road and Bruntsfield Road, and the new Charlie Miller on Holy Corner. Out of all of them I can safely say that Charlie Miller did the best job. I had half a head of highlights and a cut and I have short hair. People actually noticed and commented on my hair and I'll be going back.
