My hairdresser hasss told me that if I do a home dye job to not use a dye with no less than 6.
I have had a look at dyes and they haave all sort sof numbers likethis 118

do I take it that the last number is the one I look at ?

did she mean the percentage of peroxide? I'm not a hairdresser, but I've had my hair dyed for years and am not sure what she means.

bumping for you.

Hair dyes usually have a number reference. 1-6 are at the darker end of the scale, referring to black through to dark blonde/light brown respectively. Anything above 6 is blonde so I'm guessing she means you'll have to bleach your hair. She may have a couple of reasons for not recommending this to you. Either you have fine hair which might snap off if you do this, especially if you don't get it done professionally, or there is more likelihood of you getting it wrong and ending up with patchy colour.

thanks
have had a google and you're right havingkittens in saying that the bottom end of the scale is the dark colours
I need a dye with number 7 or higher.
Trouble is deciphering the number system of all the different dyes.

sorry if my OP is a bit confused
She recommended a dye of 6/7 or above.

Oh, I see. You're blonde then.

This might help;

No funnily enough I am brunette , had a look today and the numbers are on most packs , that link is really helpful thanks. MY natural colour is probably a 4/5 so to dye it without going too dark I need to pick a base of 6/7
Ayway I chickened out and will probably do a semi sometime.
Thanks
