Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation - opinions

I'm considering trying the Lily Lolo foundations. I have previously tried Bare Escentuals foundation (OK) and the MAC Mineralise loose powder foundation (I love it, but I'm on maternity leave so would prefer something cheaper).
I'm extremely pale and I struggle to find the correct colour foundation, so I like the idea if ordering samples before committing to a colour.
Does anyone use Lily Lolo? Is it any good? Is it necessary to use a primer?
I'm 27 and MAC NC15 for reference.

I really liked it .Looks really nice on and very natural.Unfortunately i started breaking out in spots after 3-4 weeks so had to stop using and go back to my normal clinique.However i have really allergic skin and virtually all brands apart from Clinique do this to me.The colours are lovely though especially a golden lilac eyeshadow.

I'm pretty pale myself, but I just couldn't get the right tone with lily lolo, it always looked talcumy powder on my skin? Dunno. I am using Bare escentuals 'light' it's OK, I keep going back to it. I don't like any of the highstreet minerals, they don't work for me. I haven't used a primer with any of my minerals - just some moisturiser ab 10 mins before.

Also very pale & Lily Lolo made me look like death and just didn't look right on my skin - really disappointed as I wanted it to be good!

I can use Bare Escentuals light though still not totally convinced it looks that good on me either....

They do small sample pots which are cheap and useful.

For me, it was a no. Possibly one of the least natural looking products I've ever used.

Hmmmm. Not exactly glowing reviews! I was really hoping it would be great as it's much cheaper than the MAC, however it's a false economy if I buy it and it's no good.
I think I shall order a couple of samples and see how it goes. It looks like it will be hard/impossible to get a match though.

I liked it, but not as good (IMO) as Bare Essentials.

I like it but I bought a couple of testers to get the colour right first. I still prefer my Clinique liquid foundation but I find the Lily Lolo good for days when my skin isn't very good and I need better coverage.

I am a bit of a mineral make up obsessive so can give you some quite thorough advice! Although you've tried it already, go back and stick with BareMinerals. The trick is buffing it from the OUTSIDE of your face inwards. The more you buff, the more smooth it will be.

In terms of colour, if you are really pale, you want 'fair' not 'light' There is also 'golden fair.'

When I found out I was pregnant, I bought samples of Lily Lolo but it really isn't as good. It 'sat' on my skin and my skin didn't feel good afterwards.

I know I sound like a saleswomen for the company. Honestly, I'm not but bare minerals has really revolutionised my 'look' (and now the look of most of my friends, whatever their complexion/skin type) and it took a bit of getting used to when I first tried.

Is bare minerals the same as bare essentials/ escentuals/ however they spell it!

I'm a NC15/20 too and tried three sample pots of Lily Lolo.
It just looks like a heavy powder on my skin and much prefer the Bare Minerals if I had to use a powder at all.

Another NC15 here. I usually only use MAC make up but I've been using Lily Lolo powder for the last few months and really like it. I don't know if I'll still use it in the spring and summer though as it is very mattifying and I like to have a bit of a shiney face glow.

MmeGuillotine which shade did you use?

You can get a 'fairly light' bare essentials on qvc. That's a paler colour than the light on me.

I've been using Lily Lolo for a couple of years now, and I love it. I think it's better for oily or combination skins - if you have dry skin it seems to sit on it and not look natural. I don't use any primer, just straight on (though I also use the green powder they do, to tone down my red patches - like that!)

I use Lily Lo and love it. I have very pale skin but find the porcelain one is too pale for me.

I'm quite pale (where I'm not red ) and I use the 'Blondie' shade. But I think they may have just brought out a new shade - can't remember if it's a bit darker than blondie or a bit lighter.

VJ1983, I use 'Porcelain'. I'm a milky faced redhead and it works really well with my complexion.

I am really white,but not a redhead,and the porcelain was too chalky looking on me.I use the blondie and that is much better.Having read this so I might try bare minerals ...I did try Jane iredale but that looked very heavy on me.

I've used both Lilylolo and Bare Escentuals and I would say there's no difference (other than price). I love Lilylolo. I think Porcelain is too pale for most people. I'm very pale but Porcelain makes me look like a ghost. Blondie is a much better shade for pale skin. I use Blondie in winter and the next darker shade (Barely Buff?) in summer. I use Fairly Light or Light (depending on the season) with Bare Escentuals.

You have to moisturise well and buff well to avoid the chalky look. And use blusher/bronzer.

Mineral foundation is perfect for my skin but Lily Lolo just wasn't a texture I liked for some reason. loreal minerals was great but they didn't do a pale enough shade, which is why I tried LL.

Eventually I found gosh mineral foundation in superdrug which is about £10-£13, pale enough and a great texture. plus no need to order online.

Worth trying

My friend uses lilylolo and it looks great on her, Her skin was really 'glowy'
I haven't tried it yet.
