High street jewellers, which aren't downmarket

I need to buy a cheapo bracelet or earrings for a birthday (£25 max) but don't want to present an Elizabeth Duke-type box. You know what I mean! Wink

I'm in Cheltenham. The independe jewellers didn't have anything nice for that money (would anywhere?!)

Is H Samuel too down-market? Are there any high street, chain jewellers which would be ok?

Sorry, I'm totally ignorant about jewellery. I always have it on my birthday and Christmas lists, so never buy any more myself!

Arf at downmarket

I think on that budget I'd go vintage rather than highstreet

Or proper crap costume highstreet ie accsessorise

( I cannot spell today)

Have a look in John Lewis. They have some vintage bits in most of their stores and also some reasonable priced silver earrings. They will usually put in a gift box ot bag and it won't look so 'cheap high street jewellers'

Do you have a Noa Noa shop there?
They do gorgeous costume jewellery and wrap it really nicely in a lovely box with tissue paper etc. Looks a WHOLE lot more than the price iykwim? I have bought some lovely things there as small gifts for friends etc.

I have got some nice art deco type stuff from Past Times, they have quite good jewellery sales sometimes, you could get silver jewellery for that price there.

I brought my sister some earings from Beaverbrook for Christmas. I nearly didn't go in the shop because it looked posh but the earings were a reasonible price and they wrapped it up all lovely in gift wrap for me. I was very impressed!

Definitely notonthehighstreet, my favoutite for present buying. I have around £150 to spend on a 30th pressie for myself so will be looking there.

Don't forget that the silver price has shot up recently as well so you won't get as much for your money unless it's old stock.
