When is it reasonable to return boots?

Hi I bought my dd (9) boots on 3/10/10 and she's worn them almost every day. They've had a fair bashing. Yesterday the zip broke on them and we've still got the rest of winter to get through.
Is it unreasonable to take them back to the shop now - 4 months later?
I don't want new boots I'd be happy if they replaced the zip.

If they've had four months of almost daily wear, I would just see if you can get a shoe repair place to fix them.

Take them to a cobbler and have the zip replaced.

Flor - they were from Russel & bromley so very very expensive.

I know this might sound silly but do cobblers do this sort of thing? The ones I've been in seem just to do heels or keys.

Actually, I think they might fix them for you.

Polish them up and take 'em in, can't hurt to ask.

yes, I would definitely take them back, they are designed for wear and tear and the zip should not break, but yes clean them up a bit first and see what they will offer you - let us know how you get on.

I have loved R&B ever since they gave me a full credit for an ancient pair of pumps which I had taken back for repair. I would have been happy to pay for the repair as the shoes were over 2/3 years old and had been worn a lot. But no, I got the full value refunded on a credit note instead! Wonderful service. (It was about 20 years ago tho'. They may not be so generous now.)
