Seen it on here on a few threads but not sure what it's for or how to use it... any advice would be great, thank you.

There's 2 kinds-there's the brand Moroccan oil, that comes in blue/orange bottle-it's a hair product that u put in after washing and pre-blowdrying for sleekness.
Then there's natural argan oil, which is from morocco, which is being used increasingly for moisturisers etc.

Smooth through damp hair before drying. Amazing stuff. Glossy hair without greasiness.

CountessVonKnackerstein · 22/01/2011 22:12

Ooh thank you. I got a wee bottle of the brand off eBay so I'm looking forward to giving it a go!

is it really so much better than over the counter type products that promise sleek hair?

bellavita · 22/01/2011 22:14

I heart Moroccan Oil.

ruddynorah · 22/01/2011 22:18

Yes it is about a million times better. You just won't believe it til you use it. Seems expensive but you only need a drop.

BitOfFun · 22/01/2011 22:28

The branded stuff is full of silicones though- which is fine for some hair types, but best steered clear of if you have dry or curly hair. The pure argan oil is better (and cheaper)for those hair types.

cyrilsneer · 23/01/2011 09:53

Where can you buy pure Argan Oil?

oliviafrombolivia · 23/01/2011 10:45

have seen it on eBay for a fraction of the price of the branded stuff.

ricketyrock · 23/01/2011 10:46

(some) health food shops

Also there is a brand called melvita
uk.melvita.com/melvita-uk-organic-beauty-oils-natural-skin-care-for-dry-and-dehydrated-skin,8,1,3915,4851.htm

I bought the melvita one from the expensive health food shop but as far as oils go its lovely as a face moisturiser and not too expensive (15£).

I haven't tried it on my hair yet but as Bof has established essentially the branded stuff is much more expensive than the purer oil and the pure oil is better for your hair too (although there is something addictive about silicones to start with until you get the build up etc)

I've been using it as a night moisturiser and I look about 16 now...

pagwatch · 23/01/2011 10:54

I have just started using Moroccan oil on my hair and it is fabulous. I have hair that gets frizzy really quickly. First thing that makes it reasonably sleek but not greasy.

I must look at the argan oil. Thanks for the tip Smile

seb1 · 23/01/2011 11:30

Can someone do a link to the hair stuff so I know what I am looking for. Thanks

RosieandRuby · 23/01/2011 15:16

ohh I agree I think moroccan oil is amazing. It makes your hair all lovely and shiny. The best thing I have used on my mass of hair. :)

LittleHarrysMum · 23/01/2011 15:19

I love it have been using it for about 2 weeks now on recommendation from my hairdresser. So much better than over the counter stuff

ruddynorah · 23/01/2011 15:19

I just use the oil, not tried the other products.

CountessVonKnackerstein · 23/01/2011 22:54

Well I put it on washed hair last night, straightened it this morning and it's still soft and straight, so all good so far ...

Always go for organic Argan Oil if you can get it, health food shops and organic product suppliers on net best and cheapest place. Use as moisturiser on body too, excellent stuff.

amberleaf · 24/01/2011 01:58

What does Argan oil smell like?

ricketyrock · 24/01/2011 07:48

the Melvita pure oil smells very very slightly sort of nutty but it's neither 'perfumed' not unpleasant. Some oils are greasy and make my eyes sting this doesn't.

Shhhh · 24/01/2011 10:24

come on someone...LINK please Grin.

I want sleek shiny hair Grin

HarlotOTara · 24/01/2011 19:20

I have just been given some organic argan oil from Morocco. I have used it as a moisturiser but if you put it on hair how much do you use and do you need conditioner as well - am assuming not.
